AHMEDABAD, India (Reuters) - A newborn baby girl survived an ignoble birth after slipping down the toilet bowl of a moving Indian train onto the tracks when a pregnant woman unexpectedly gave birth while relieving herself on Tuesday.

"My delivery was so sudden," said the Bhuri Kalbi, the mother of the infant, born two months prematurely. "I did not even realise that my child had slipped from the hole in the toilet."

Kalbi, a 33-year-old woman from a village in Rajasthan, fainted on the toilet seat after the birth for a few minutes before waking up and alerting her family.

"They stopped the train and ran on the tracks to find the baby," she said, speaking from her hospital bed in the western city of Ahmedabad.

Railway staff at a nearby station were alerted and soon found the newborn girl lying uninjured on pebbles by the track. She is now in intensive care because of her premature birth, doctors said.

Most toilets on Indian trains are filthy chutes emptying directly onto the tracks.

How come child birth is painful for most people, but sometimes it just happens by accident?

I know a girl who was born in the toilet. She didn't know until I accidently let it slip... I got in trouble too... and here this girl's toilet birth is world wide news. How unfair.

But it's not just being born in a toilet, the baby was technically dumped into the tracks. SubhanAllah, she still survived and without any injuries!

Awwww... I hope the baby will be okay.

I wanna have a premature baby too! Or a whole bunch of kids at the same time...that way, they'll all be smaller than average and delivery will be easier.

And then you can get it all over with too. Only one pregnancy.

I told my mom that and she was like "Are you crazy? Do you know how hard it is to take care of even one baby?"

that's crazy that the baby fell off the train.

having babies in toilets is not that uncommon here in the states. Usually it's because the mom doesn't know she's pregnant. she goes to the washroom thinking she has to relieve herself, and lo and behold, she has what ends up being the most memorable bowel movement of her life.

Every woman is different. My cousins wife is not even 5'0, and hardly 90 lbs. Her husband is 6'4. She has 8-9 lbs babies the natural way in 4 hours or less from start to finish. Then there was my grandma who had 8 children, all pretty small (6-7 lbs), and nearly died with each birth.

If the baby is premature, you don't have to do much pushing (and probably won't have much pain), cuz the baby is really little.

I don't understand how you can have a baby doing somersaults in your tummy and not know or suspect that you're pregnant. I mean, right now it feels like the baby is just going to push her way out through my abdomen.

Some people are just don't want to think about it. Afterall, de-nile is not just a river in Egypt. My friend didn't want to admit she was pregnant, even though she was clearly showing, becuase of the traumatic nature of the conception

I explained my logic.

Small baby = easy delivery.
