lol... my sister in law who doesnt know urdu very well thought i was calling her "mommy" instead of "maami"... she thought "awww how affectionate and sweet!" until i told her maami does not equal mommy.

the rest of the sisters in law either call her "aunty" or "ammi"

im not engaged or married but i when/if i do, ill call her thant/tata/khala/khalti, its what most arabs tend to call their mom in laws (at least from what ive seen/heard).

i only have one mom so no one else is getting called mom

hmm, all the arabs i know call their mom in laws mart-ami (literally means my uncles wife). i dont know why as this makes no sense. haha i have no idea what id call mine...i guess id see what her other kids in law call her or ask her what she prefers? i dunno, but i would feel weird referring to her with the same word i used for my mother. but im cool with using another way of saying mom if that would make her happy.

pushpa...mashallah congratulations!!

sumiyia...duaas coming your way iA. inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oun

We do the "auntie" and "uncle" thing. Nobody has volunteered anything else!

My aunt who got married calls her mother-in-law Ammi.

My mom and her sister-in-law both call my grandma (dad's mom) "Bayji"...
'Cause everybody calls her Bayji. It's like a short form of the Punjabi word for Grandma: Bebe-ji.

kellyjaz: How's that granny-like?
It is exciting!

Lol, one of my closest friends married her first cousin, so her mother-in-law whom she calls "Mart-ami" is in fact her uncle's wife.

Well, don't take this in the wrong way, i hope u get this job, but if you don't, remember all the bad words you have used against many islamicans, and take this as a hint that something isn't right in the way you'r leading your life...

That's because Allah swt is most Just.

Our words to carry weight with them, but sadly too many of us, type before we think.
