Braun SIlk Epil
I think the best thing is getting waxed once and then epilating every other day, even if you dont see anything. that way youre always clean.
also...about laser hair removal: i was told it causes discoloration on asian skin, so i was scared to get it done..is that true?

depends on your skin tone but it works on most people, I know brown girls who've gotten it done with no trouble, even fair skinned desis are considered dark but if you go to a good place and they figure out the right setting for you it's fine. I get my face zapped and no discoloration. I just had my underarms done for the first time (hurt like hell) and I've been hairless for 3 weeks so far.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
i'm starting on my final project for sociology class
are you guys familiar with that song by Akon, "I Wanna (Love) You"?
if anyone has read the uncensored lyrics, they're absolutely repulsive. they're not only vulgar, but even more misogynistic than i'd anticipated.
i found a version of the song covered by this weird indie girl band. it's sort of like a feminist response to the song, from the stripper's point of view. the lyrics are the saddest thing i've ever heard, about how the stripper was abused as a child, is addicted to drugs, and is desperate, but well aware that she's being used. it's a really powerful response to the original song.
so for my project, i'm doing a comparative analysis of the two songs, based on the messages each version is conveying.
-excited-
i wish i were a sociology major

the lighter you are the less chances there are of discoloration so you should be a good candidate.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I don't trust aesthetician's when it comes to laser hair removal. Last time I went to one I got a staph infection but the dermatologist was kind enough to waive the payments for the office visit, lab work, and medication Alh. Now I only let an experienced RN or a dermatologist touch my skin and I haven't had any problems. Anyways, laser hurts more in certain areas than in others, like I would give the face an 8/10 [hurts a lot] but the legs a 3/10 [doesn't hurt that much] it ultimately depends on the person though. I like the results and think its worth every penny.

yeah I go to someone who works in a dermatologists office for it. I want to get my lower legs done but I'm too chicken (they use the same size gun as for the face, that'll take forever and ouch), plus leg hair is thicker than face hair and thicker hair hurts more in my experience...they should invent a long narrow laser gun that zaps the entire leg in 5 zaps.

all the known brands have sulfates because it's a cheap detergent.

most of the ones I've tried do lather up but not as much as sulfate shampoos but seriously...as long as your hair gets clean and isn't dry who cares about bubbles.
