Yeah. Do you have GMail? The SistersMSA is online - you can IM her. Did you send them your username for PalTalk? Btw, you didn't miss anything. We're all just there waiting. Class hasn't started yet.

yeah but the fact remains that before evaporation, the alcohol touched the marinade or the biscuits with its original properties that make it unacceptable and impure in islam
edit: sorry i meant unacceptable, not acceptable

the prohibition is against the consumption of alcohol. what you're consuming is not alcohol. the impurity is gone.
muslims sure love to complicate things.

Alcohol is filth. When it touches something it makes it impure.
So its not just about the consumption but also the use of alcohol.
The filth of the alcohol remains even after it evaporates unless its washed away.
Since you cant wash biscuits after their made then they remain impure.

not really, it's not about overcomplication..especially since a lot of restaurants are willing to make small changes for us when preparing our meal
it's just a matter of simple fiqh. the deliberate addition of alcohol to food is what makes it impure and haram for consumption.
Sunnipath:Is Alcohol Filth?

As for cooking with alcohol that is a liquid intoxicant, since the alcohol in food evaporates upon cooking, one might imagine that that removes the filth.* In reality, even though there may remain no body of the alcohol in the food, the food is filthified upon contact with it and is not purified by the evaporation of the alcohol, but only by being washed.

I added her and she said the class is full for this week
If anyone in here who is taking the class wouldn't mind sharing what we covered today, that would be really great. I did the reading so I have some idea..

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
so washing something that has been cooked in alcohol magically makes it pure? doesn't make sense.

Firstly, the marinade is added after it's cooked. Maybe marinade was the wrong word, but it's put in after it's cooked said the lady. They basically made us a batch and did not add the sauce on top. So, it's a sauce that they put on top, so it's not cooked.
And alcohol does not completely evaporate (scroll down for chart: Does alcohol burn off in cooking?). That's fine that it doesn't bother you and all, but honestly, there is no need to be so condescending.

I think you're missing the point.
Since you cant wash it after the fact it remains impure. Hence why you shouldn't cook with alcohol.
