Re: Female Personal Hygiene
i probably haven't gone to the threading salon in 2 years my husband actually cleans up my brows for me. he started doing it when i got pregnant and i didn't want to travel and lug myself to the salon i used to go to. i've discovered he's better than almost every threader i've been to, and i have difficult brows.. he even tweezes them in a way that hurts less than threading. i seriously have the best husband ever

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
i'm kinda sorta majorly upset and freaking out right now. i have to fly to Pakistan tmw iA ....but I have an insane, irrational fear of flying. should i take a sleeping pill before i get on the plane? i know i'm gonna start bawling at the airport like crazy, not b/c i'm gonna miss my family/fiance but because i'm afraid to fly.
someone please tell me to suck it up and that flying is safer than driving, that millions of people fly every single day and i'll be safe iA and other nice things, like how Allah will protect me if I ask for His protection...
and it sooo does not help that there's been bombings in Karachi lately the first half of the trip is 13 hrs, from here to Abu Dhabi...then about another 3 from there to Karachi. so i just gotta manage 16 hours there and then 16 hours back when we return iA...and all the chaos that is Pakistan itself.
how do you guys deal with flying?

i haven't flown for a while now but i dont mind it. plus taking off is fun, lol. just read all your du'aas and everything will be fine. the only part i hate about these flights is that they're soo long and I get really bored, fast. my cousin just arrived in karachi and said it's not as scary as she thought, alhumdulillah. if you think it'll help you relax, take some sleeping/anxiety pills.

Okay, nobody neg me for this. When I went to Pakistan in December, I took benadryl, and vicodin. The vicodin was for knee pain, but it also makes you sleepy. The benadryl was just for sleep.
No, I don't take vicodin on a regular basis. I take a few tablets a year when my pain really flares up. In fact, I request other non-narcotics instead, but there aren't many non-narcotic alternatives unfortunately.
Cute husband thing: Mr. ChotooMotoo trims my toe nails because it's really difficult for me to reach down and trim them myself these days. I don't think I would trust him with tweezers though.

Every sound in an airplane freaks me out. I try to find friendly people nearby to make conversation with if I fly alone. If I'm with mr. jellymill he just tells me to stop being a baby and recite some du'as

I hate flying too. Everytime there is even slight turbulence I read shahada and make istighfar.
I do two things though:
Make dhikr with "hasbi Allahu na3mil wakeel" which means means somethng to the effect of Allah being the one you rely on.
I also think about it logically. If the plane shakes, does that mean it will crash? I picture the plane from the outside, kind of being shoved by the wind and I'm just like "that's it, it's just moving around, logically, nothing is going to happen, a little wind."
I mean really, unless some suuuper rare thing happens, which is RARE, you'll be fine insha'Allah

iA it will be safe. no, i'm flying with my mom iA. but she doesn't understand my phobia...basically, i'm afraid of dying, so having ammi there doesn't help at all. taking off and landing is the most dreadful ever!

i'm gonna grind some dramamine into my morning coffee tmw. fights motion sickness and puts you to sleep. vicodin is some crazy strong stuff though i had my oral surgeon prescribe me some when i had 2 wisdom teeth removed, but once i took a look at the side effects, i decided to stick to motrin and tough it out. OUCH

i wanted to take a Qur'an and tasbih, then thought it might not be the smartest idea to have those in my hand when i'm flying lol...

inshaAllah. thanks. i guess it isn't a fear of flying, it's a fear of dying at this point in life
turbulence doesn't frighten me, it's the whole idea of being up in the air and at the mercy of so many other things that scares me. :control freak: i take the train every single day and have been doing so for about 9 years now alh....but i'm afraid to fly lol.
