i really would like lasik, too. my eyesight is horrific.. -6.50 and -6.00 in my left and right eyes. but it has stabilized for the last 5 or so years now.. hasn't gone up or down. i should go for a consult. the other day my husband woke up and glanced at the clock. I realized I have no idea how it feels to do that..

I have astigmatism, albeit only minor. The newer technology does allow for it so I wouldn't worry. Usually it costs in the thousands. I cost me around $2400 but some lasik centers run sales and my friend just the other day had it done for $900. Oh she has astigmastism too

I have astigmatism too.
And I'm scared of any sort of operations/surgeries so I steer away from the topic of getting Lasik done. Also when I first got them checked and found out I had it, I asked him about my problem and he said that they weren't guaranteeing that it would work hundred percent. But now I'm sure the technology must have changed.

Glasses dont look so great with hijab, imo. I dont wear mine unless I'm in class and need to see the board/prof or unless I'm driving. I cant wait to get contacts, I keep putting it off for some reason

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Salika, maybe they "undercorrected" it for the people I knew. It was only like 2 or 3 people and 2 of them were middle aged and needed reading glasses even after lasik. So perhaps it could have to do with age?

I also have a slight astigmatism but it's not large enough to even need correction with glasses/contacts alhamdulillah. I wonder if they would still fix it with lasik even though it's so minor.

Yea it would... and to be able to wake up and see the clock like khadija said....and to fall asleep during a movie without having to clean contacts or remove glasses...or take a shower and be able to see where I dropped the soap . I used to hate cleaning contacts so I switched to the daily ones but they dry my eyes out. There's always one problem or another with contacts and I hate the feeling of glasses perched on my nose.
They told me I have to be at least 25 to get it but I thought I remember somebody here in FPH say once that different doctors say different things?

Just do it.
It's worth the discomfort and hassle you'll probably go just the first few days. Then you become a pro at it.
