i'm pretty sure that even if you can't pray, you can still recite the dua for istikhara. someone please correct me if i'm wrong, Allahu alim.

You can recite the dua, but it probably would not be considered as the act of 'istikhara', because the dua is only one component of the salah. Regardless, dua is good enough in that state, do what you can. iA.  |

Okay ladies, I'm going to have to ask for duas for my grandfather again. Lately he's not been doing to well, and I dont want to get into details. We're all, once again having to face that trauma. He's one of the few elders left in the family. Alhamdulilah alaa kuli haal.

Among one of the duas from Sahih Bukhari for the one who is sick is:
اللَّهُمَّ أذْهِبَ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، اشْفِ وَ أنْتَ الشَّافِى، لا شِفاَءَ إلّا شِفاَؤُكَ، شِفاَءً لَا يُغاَدِرُ سِقَماً
O Allah, remove the hardship, Oh Lord of Mankind, grant a cure, for You are the Healer, there is no cure but from You, a cure which leaves no illness behind.
