Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalamu alaykum
I spent ages cleaning the sand off the floor due to the sand storm and it started again.
I found a new technique to numb the pain of waxing - slap the area several times as hard as you can take it then rip that wax off This is the order of pain so far: Ovarian cysts > Needle in roof of mouth > waxing > cramps. Alhamdulilah, i'm so sleepy.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I got my nose pierced twice (first for the fun of it and it got infected and closed, second time for my wedding). Both times I got it done at the same tattoo/piercing place. I also got my navel piercing done there. I never got a cork or ice or numbing gel or anything and I agree with Afra...it's like a stabbing and twisting and uggghh . I think piercings just dont agree with my nose, i've never had problems with the navel or the cartilage piercing in my ear and I used sea salt (H2Ocean brand) for all my piercings.
Eh.
In other news I just made aloo qeema (minced meat and potatoes, desi dish)...it's on the stove and almost done. Last time it was way too salty, let's hope it's good this time inshallah. I also got some halaal gummy fish

My husband recommended something similar but less painful. Instead of slapping, rub the skin times to numb it. I haven't tried it and I don'tk now if it would work but just in case it might help some of ya'll...

No pain no gain!
Salika - would rubbing the skin really desensitize it that much?? Perhaps it depends on the area. I find it hurts a lot less if I do something else whilst waxing - like watching TV, then it's over in 15 mins and much less of an ordeal. Otherwise my body heats up with fear and i'm just so much more aware of the upcoming pain.

epilators sound vicious. Waxing underarms can be over in literally seconds with waxing, how long does the epilator take?

I don't know but ya, I'm not sure if it would work. I have a high thresh hold of pain anyway and after a few times I find that it doesn't hurt as much, particularly with epilation.

With an epilator, takes each under arm about a minute or two. It's really quick, particularly when you don't wait for all the hair to grow back.
