this morning i came into work. there were a man and a woman in an elevator as i walked up to it, the guy stuck his hand out to hold the door so me and another guy could get on. the lady took one look at me and stepped off the elevator and gave some excuse about being claustrophobic. more like islamophobic. i'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but the elevator was huge and not the least bit crowded and her sudden fit of claustrophobia began the second she looked up and saw me. she had been looking down as both me and the other guy got on, even asked us what floors we wanted. when she looked up and saw my hijab is when she jumped out. i had the urge to get off too and tell her id wait for the next one with her, just to see what she'd do. i wonder if she would have taken the stairs haha. ignorant people are annoying...

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
sumi. inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon
---
this old, old lady called my house yesterday and she that her daughter found a note that was addressed to a certain phone number (my house's number). she said the note had probably fallen out while the owner was shuffling in her purse for keys or something. anyways, the old lady was like "well when i read the note, i was alarmed by what it said so i thought i would call and give it back" and when i asked what was on it, she was like "well, i don't want to cause any problems or anything, i'm not sure if i should tell you"
i asked her who it was addressed to and she just said "to this phone number" and i explained that i was the daughter of the household, so i'm sure it would okay if she told me what was on the note; however she repeated the whole "i don't want to cause problems" thing. i let her know my parents are out of town til next week but maybe she could call back then or something if she wanted.
 how weird. the whole conversation just gave me a sick feeling in my stomach for some reason (maybe i just really don't like old people?! )
khair, inshaAllah everything's fine.

Sumiyia, Innil lilahi wa inna ilayhi rajiouns.
Fatima, lol, I wonder if she'd actually taken the stairs too, Anyway, some people can be very silly.
Oh and, check out the Hair-cut/styles thread please, if any of you fashionable Islamican ladies would be willing to give me advice. That thread just died down.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
jazaks for all the du'aas.. really appreciate it. may Allah swt give them the sabr to get through this difficult time. may He forgive masood of his sins and grant him jannat al firdaus.
du'aas for everyone who needs them.
i'm really bummed out. i've lost count of all the friends and other young people i know personally who have either died or been severely injured. just off the top of my head.. 6 car accident deaths, 1 shot in the neck while driving and died later, 1 died due to health reasons. 1 in a coma after a car accident, still no recovery. 2 had a craaazy car accident, majorly injured. 1 broke her back after falling down the stairs. 1 had both legs amputated after a motorcycle crash. 1 beaten to death by a gang after school. all of them in their late teens or early 20s.
Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal.
the local muslim cemetery has completely filled up. they're looking around for more land somewhere.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I volunteered at the special olympics last weekend and just received this from one of the guys (another volunteer) who was there:
"Yes I completely stalked you off tufts homepage but I had no choice... those magical hours standing over boiling water were unmatched and don't want to wait until next year for a repeat... just wondering if you had any interest at getting together between now and next year???"
 I think I'm not answering.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Well I tried to catch up on fph... sumi I'm soooo sorry to hear what happened to all those young people. May Allah make things easy for them!
alhamdulillah I had a wonderful weekend. I (along with the family) visited my fiance and his family, went to a wedding, had a nice dinner party with some of their close friends so they could introduce me to the community, and so on. alhamdulillah.
