Sal's nose piercing looks awesome. I got mine done with a gun too but it closed up just a couple of weeks ago. Had it for almost a year. I kinda miss it.

sorry to hear this. The same happened to me a few years ago. I refused to have a d&c done, my ob/gyn and I had it out, until she gave me some uterine contraction pills. I changed doctors since then.

and thanks fifa all i had to do was find 5 cases dealing with racial discrimination and summarize them into 5 pages so i dont reall need it to be editted. and make a powerpoint. easiest freakin assignment EVER..but finding the cases was pretty hard..i only have one more to go, hopefully i have time to finish before 1pm tomorrow since thats when its due hehe. anyway thanksssss darlin

Asvi, I'm really happy to hear that your family is with you, Alhumdulillah. I hope that Allah Swt grants you a quick recovery and makes things easier on you... iA, iA !

I know this may seem like a generalization or a whatever, but I've noticed that some - not all doctors seem to really lack good "bedside manner" (I really stress some). I think they are so desensitized to things that they forget the person that they are treating is not desensitized and may need comforting and reassurance that things will be okay. Asvi, once you're ready, I definitely think you should let her know that you definitely didn't appreciate or need her judging you and your decision about your body and your health .

moral of the story: fork over a little more cash and get it done somewhere legit! it sounds crazy, but tattoo parlors are so much cleaner and nicer than any of the desi jewelry places i've been in. plus the people are much nicer, rather than the glaring aunties i've encountered.

and my God, DONT LET AN EAR PIERCING GUN ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR NOSE. not only are you using blunt force to rip your skin, which can shatter your cartilage, but you also can't autoclave the instrument so it's never completely sterilized. thus the inevitable infection that EVERYONE i know has gotten soon after getting their nose pierced that way. scars all over your nose are ....not cute.
i've gotten piercings at two different tattoo parlors so far and those ones have never gotten infected. but ironically, when i was younger and got my earlobes (one of the easiest piercings to heal) pierced by a gun supposedly meant for ear piercings, both ears got very infected.

one last thing. i know a lot of people, especially us desis, have been raised to think that gold is the best thing to use in piercings, probably because it's expensive. but surgical steel, even though it's so much cheaper, is much better to use. think about it-- if you were injured and had to get a metal plate stuck in your body, they'd use surgical steel. gold is more likely to irritate your skin, especially if its a lower karat.
