salika - a friend tried a store bought acid abrasion kit (i think that's what it's called??)and she said after a short while her skin was smoother and cleaner. She got it from Boots? Don't know if you have that. It was $50.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
thanks sumiyia and sugarberry but I'm giving up on NYC for now. It was gonna be a surprise for the hubs for our 1-year anniversary but everything's expensive. They were giving me crappy hotel choices in bad parts of town (hotel + 2 roundtrip tickets for around $1100 but the hotel was like 'Red Carpet Inn'). I want to get a New York City Pass like we did for Toronto on our honeymoon (they're awesome!) but there's the problem of transportation and finding a decent cheap hotel close to transportation cuz renting a car is expensive (plus gas and parking in New York cant be much different from hellish downtown Chicago parking ).
EDIT: San Diego looks promising! Sumiyia, dont you live there?! It came up in my search on google when i typed 'anniversary vacation.' What's it like there?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
thanks JM and zzze. I found dermabrasions to be too harsh with my breakout and made things worse. They are great for maintance though. My sister tried Ole Henriksen Micro/Mini Peel System which I just bought and have on my face. I kept bombarding the lady with questions and she said that I should be fine and gave me some samples that I could use with the product that would help. She even did a sample on my hand to show me how it worked. I asked the lady if there were other products she'd rather recommend and she said it was the most gentle but does the job. She was really helpful and understanding.
This peel isn't like one of those peels where you have to hide out for a few days. It looks normal but gradually gets your skin to do its thing. I tried to find reviews online but there aren't too many, like 3 total but everyone who's tried (including my sister) loved it. Overall, the products do get good ratings and the guy has his own spas and has degrees in skin care and cosmetic chemistry. Neat fella About Ole Henriksen
so bismillah :face sting:

Ya, lately I've been really gentle on my face alhamdulillah. Just simple cleanser and moisturizer. I decided no more harsh products. They've NEVER done me any good. Things are calming down which is great and I can tell my skin is already getting rid of damaged stuff, which is great.

iA khair Salika. Maybe you need to like...move country. To somewhere cold, like switzerland. The water looks amazing there, too. Wait, i *think* switzerland is cold lol.
alhamdulilah my spots are due to the usual reason.. just 3 weeks early.as usual, the spots/blemishes are symmetrical, and they're on my cheeks - so it looks like i have super rosy cheeks lol.
only 4 weeks til our return the uk! omg being able to breathe AIR, with moisture!!!!

I wouldn't do a peel, girlie. it might freak your skin out and you don't want that to happen before you meet everyone. think of the big picture..and just cover up whatever's bothering you for the time being.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
San Diego's looking expensive too . I found round trip tickets for two + 3 nights at Omni hotel (looks amaaaazing in pics and reviews are awesome) for $830/person. Is that unreasonable?
Omni

Otherwise there's an Extended StayAmerica - Hotel Circle that looks less nice but still decent. The price is about $650/person for 3 nights and roundtrip airfare. Hotel reviews sound really good too. Extended Stay has a kitchen which is a plus but.. eh. There's basically no difference between the two except that Extended Stay is less "glitzy." *sigh* I guess beggars can't be choosers?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
jelly, I've stayed in all grades of hotels, from the fanciest resorts to the crappiest you've seen (long story), but at the end of the day, the ritzy hotels aren't really worth it compared to your normal hotel. The only thing that glitzy hotels offer are the amenities, which you still have to pay extra for (like spa, sauna, gym, etc). You might get some chocolate on the bed, a nice lounge (but are you gonna hang out there?) and the view. Some hotels have amaaaaazing breath taking views. There's other little stuff like cool lookin showers and maybe a slightly bigger room, but honestly, at the end of the day, most hotel rooms are the same (unless you go to a resort, but even then, practically speaking, there's no huge difference). If budget is a big deal to you (and rightly so, you guys are a young couple still starting out), then honestly, you're not missing out on that much if you still go to a decent hotel with still great reviews.
