Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I'm applying for my state certification. I have to send in copies of my transcript stating my degree, proving that I've completed an approved teacher education program, and a business letter. Oh and I have to include my PRAXIS scores. After reviewing my packet, they'll send me an actual application form. I'm nervous.

I thought i would post here as it is most relevant. Sunnipath.com has a course starting on the fiqh of menstruation. It starts next week, I'm kind of excited.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
have any of you guys ever taken the "Yaz" birth control pill?
im starting it soon to clear up my acne, but i keep hearing accounts of the horrible side effects that go with it, and im having qualms.
depression
hopelessness and despair
nausea/vomiting
panic attacks and heart palpitations
erratic mood swings
decreased sex drive
migraines
rashes
change in weight
dizziness
hair loss
um.
anyone know of any other contraceptive pills that are good for clearing acne, withOUT killing me in the process?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Legally, they have to list the side effects, even if it's rare. You would start seeing these symptoms during the first month. If you're too scared, maybe you can ask for orthotricyclin, which is supposed to be very effective for acne as well. I've never had any of those problems being on the pill (though I've never tried yaz, I've tried other brands). Anyways, no matter what you put into your body, there will be potential side effects but usually, those side effects are rare or minimal and even if you experience them, you can try similar products that might not give you those problems.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Okay, unless that pill has made you gain 200 pounds, you're the last person who I'd call obese.

yaz and yasmine are similar, but not exactly the same.
as for the weight gain, I asked my dad about it once and he said that in those studies, women gained around 5 pounds, if it all. You won't blow up from the pill.
... and isn't your dad a doc? And if you're fat then well I'm... I'm just...

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
In any case... you're not fat.
I wanna go on it for my skin too, but my Muslim doctor uncle refuses to put me on it. I'm convincing him though... slowly.
Skin has cleared up now anyway but if it acts up again: I'm gonna get him to prescribe the pill for me.
