Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Why screw up your system like that?
If your period comes on your wedding (and it doesn't have to if you know your cycle), then it's not like it lasts that long anyway. A week max. And it's not like it's really going to kill the fun. You don't have to have intercourse right away.
Sumiyia: Damn. I dunno what I would do if my period came once every 3 weeks. As it is, mine's every 32 days, haha. I figure that means on average, I menstruate less than most people?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
if you dont smoke or have lupus or a few other conditions then theres no point having a monthly cycle, and ovulating alot increases the risk of ovarian cancer and puts a lady through pain and bleeding. Just take oral contraceptives continuously, theres a form that has gaps for 4 bleeds per year and a new one is coming out that is used all year round without any periods or with one period per year.
save yourselves the hassle

No, don't take BC pills continuously. It can seriously mess your system up. I was just fine until I hit about 16, got an ovarian cyst and my doctor gave me depo-provera shots. My period has never been the same since

Yeah, why accept what Allah swt has given all to women and go the way of a chemical that will alter what Allah has ordained.
This would have to be your most stupid and ill-thought post to date. Bravo champ. You've taken stupidity to a whole new level.

But that's not a real period, is it?
I mean, why are you on the pill? To regulate your cycle?
Mossad:
What do you mean, there's no point in having a monthly cycle? Let's just get rid of it entirely? It's a natural process and I highly doubt that ovulating once a month is considered "a lot" and is going to increase your risk of getting ovarian cancer. the vast majority of women ovulate so I think more of us would have ovarian cancer then if that's all it took.
I don't go through much pain during that time of the month and I don't think it's that big a hassle. If I don't have to take birth control pills continuously, then why would I? If anything, it's jacking yourself up on extra hormones unnecessarily that's gonna put you at risk.
Please don't tell me you're becoming a doctor.

Sis, this guy doesn't know Islam at all, so you should be doing your utmost to ignore his idiotic ramblings, let alone even seriously consider his 'medical' [read: inane] advice.
There's barakah in menstruating, just as there's barakat in the pain we endure when we give birth. Every pain we endure expiates our sins and Allah swt tells us so Himself.
Allah swt places hardships on women for a reason and we should never try to alter His plans, let alone take on this arrogant stance of "No thanks Allah, I don't really want to have a period".

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
If anyone has questions about the various kinds of pills and ovulation, you might want to consult your physician rather than relying on random Islamica posters.

OCP's are actually just human hormones like the kind that Allah made and like I said, its protective against ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, possibly breast cancer, and all the other negative results of ovulation and unopposed estrogen. The way Allah created women, they were supposed to get married young and crank out babies throughout their fertile life, as women did for tens of thousands of years of human history until we reached the modern age. Thats how their bodies and their hormones are structured. The number of ovulations in a 'modern' woman's lifetime is many times greater than the number that our ancestors used to have, which is why we need to watch out for their negative effects.
However, that recommendation does not apply to women who smoke or women over 35 because advanced age carries a risk of thrombotic disease which might exceed the benefits from stopping ovulation and unopposed estrogen. Actually hormone based contraceptives are generally not given to women who are over 35 unless they insist on it and are informed of the risks and benefits. I thought i mentioned the age factor in the first post
