well, the times I've done it I've felt I kind of had to do it. I've felt like it was either wear it like that, or remove it completely. I don't like to remove it completely
1) When I'm at airports
2) When I'm in my home town (maybe 3 Muslim families there, and no hijabi's)
3) If I'm alone in my office, and it's really warm
4) If I'm in a strange situation where being identifiably Muslim is ackward, such as being in places with tons of rednecks.
However, I always make sure the rest of my clothes are very modest. I will do it wearing a turtleneck, for instance, so that my neck and chest is pretty well covered, or at least wear a very high shirt if it's too hot for a turtleneck. In situations 1,2 and 4, my husband usually requests that I do so.
I don't like to wear it that way in general.

All I'd like to add is that the bandana (sp?) thing does not go weel with shalwar kameez.

No, it looks really with shalwar kameez. Even a regular hijab can look kinda with a shalwar kameez, but I wear it anyway becuase I can't seem to control my dupatta.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalamu alaykum
shalwar kameez seriously doesn't suit me. at all (unless it's fitted - harami in front of men) i like how it looks on some of my friends, but i prefer (fancy) saris, not that people other than bengalis were saris on an everyday basis in my experiance, anyway. so no matter how much x insists, i am not wearing shalwar kameez, ESPECIALLY at a mixed wedding, which no matter how much x insists- it WILL be. A previous proposed compromise was a jilbab...with slits up to the hips and semi see thru trousers
so i think i need to find a fancy jilbab, which shouldn't be hard in the land of jilbabies. alhamdulilah

I guess you're just too thin. Fatties look good in Shalwar Kameez
ChotooMotoo = Fatie = in Shalwar Kameez (at least according to Mr. ChotooMotoo)

i think they look nice on fatties and skinnies, but not in betweenies...unless fitted. Jilbabs, however, look good on everyone

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
today my mom and her friend invited a rep from mary-kay and she gave us all light facials. basically she let us sample the satin hand and lip treatment, facial cleanser, microdermabrasion (sp?), and moisturizer. my skin still feels so soft, mA!
anyhoo, i wanted to share tips she gave us: when we cleanse/moisturize our face she said many people forget the neck! so as we get older we only pay attention to the face and soon see that the neck is not as pretty as our face! its especially important when using anti-aging products. also, she mentioned that once you're around 18-20ish you should start using under-eye cream to delay the anti-aging process because that's where it hits first, and to exfoliate at least once a week (lol, i barely exfoliate!). Oh she said to *always* use sunscreen because most skin damage is caused by sun exposure.
hmm that's all i can remember!
