Re: Female Personal Hygiene
My friend has to go to a conference in NYC next month, iA. She's invited me to come along. The conference is only one day, but she said that she'll take off another day or two. She's really tempting me because the trip is virtually free - hotel, transportation around the city, and food is covered by her company. I only have to pay for my ticket to and from New York. She even said that she'll come back with me on a bus, if I decide to go. Hmm... I don't know. Should I do it?!

definately! its very rare that you get a majority all expenses paid trip to NY...if you and the friend are close, it could be a blast.
In other news last night my suitemate was having sex so loud that she shook the walls...and everybody in the suite could hear her....it was SOOOO disturbing.

I read that as "my soulmate was having sex"

Yeah, its my best friend. If I don't end up going to CT that week, I guess I will go to NYC with her, iA.

That's sick. How can she even look you all in the face (the next day)?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
man...i remember...when it was just ME...it was all about ME. now it' s us..:/ i think it has to grow on me.
i remember reading someones post way back when about how they liked being single and they werent making a count-down until they got married...b/c life would be all about themselves they could be selfish..b/c it was about THEMSELvES..and parents are the greatest..really..they really do let life be great... .

that was me.
i still stand by that but it's more realistic of me to think that anything can happen at anytime. it's not a good idea to close yourself off to all the options out there. 'just me' is going to be a shortlived phase in the end anyway; ill spend more of my life with someone than being on my own, hopefully
anyways that was a tangent but yeah, parents rock. there's no one like family.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
So two days before my mehndi lady is supposed to put mehndi on me, she calls me up to say that she's going to charge me for gas for her car to drive to my house. not only that but she is overcharging me the amount of gas it takes. freakin' cheap desis.
and shes overcharging us for the mehndi in the first place. but inititally we didn't mind that much, because she does good mehndi. but her actions are so unprofessional and cheap. anyways she pissed me off so much i told her she didnt have to come. now i have one day to find someone to do my mehndi.
im so pissed off at her though. i hate desis.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
the cake lady initially said she would transport the cake to the reception hall, now she says we have to do it our selves. HOW CAN I BLOODY TRANSPORT A CAKE TO THE HALL MYSELF?!
i also got a facial last friday that sucked. all my whiteheads are still on my face, my face is super dry now and has little pimples. and i dont feel that my face is 'fresh' or anything. total waste of money.
and my make up trial was a waste of moeny as well. im not a picky make up person at all. and i have seen dozens of her brides, and i loved her work. dont know why i got one too.
im getting my pedi/mani and waxing tomm. insha Allah those wont suck.

sorry to hear that i can totally relate. The place i was supposed to get my hair done cancelled on me THE DAY OF my wedding, they said I had to wait 2 hours and i was like I have to BE AT MY Wedding in 2 hrs!! So I left and drove to 5 other salons where finally an irani woman took me in and did my hair- and her specialty was wedding updos!! And she did a FANTASTIC job, much better than zaib salon woulda done . Anyway, there's always some good in all the difficulties you face, even if it's just a test of patience and reward from Allah
Is there a friend who can do your mehndi?
Transporting the cake- oh hell no they better transport it themselves! Did you have a contract? Is it b/c of gas prices they aren't transporting it? If it's a towering cake I would pay extra if needed to get it transported, who knows how heavy it'll be and if people will be able to safely place it on the table.
if you are getting your face waxed DO NOT LET ANYTHING TOUCH iT FOR 24 HRS!!! Unless you want to break out like crazy!! Not even water!! (i had a bad experience with that too on my wedding day!)
take care and inshaAllah remember it's ur wedding, you don't want to remember it as being a stressful day, just relax, let everything fall into place, and acccept things you cannot control.. you'll be much happier the day of and after ur wedding | |
