EDIT: I have this awesome semi-fancy pink abaya with light purple beading and sequins on the bottom and sleeves that I wore on Eid...it's an A-line flowy one, like a dress almost. I would wear it with a matching pink beaded hijab and heels. Is that appropriate?

ok sorry I guess it sounds mixed.
I wouldn't wear an abaya though. It's not inappropriate at all but it's seen as very rural-ish, even if it's fancy (not that rural-ish is a bad thing but you know how cultures go). Arabs usually wear Western clothing to formal ocassions. If you wore an abaya, no one would think anything of it, but you might feel out of place. If you have a nice skirt and blouse or a formal-ish dress that would do. At Pali weddings, the only women wearing abayas are the older ladies (like grandmas).
Hope that helps

Thanks. I just thought of another shirt though that I just bought .
I bought this at NY&Co a few weeks back and haven't gotten a chance to wear it yet. Mine is exactly like it except the sleeves are full length. I was thinking to wear that over the gray trousers with heels and a teal or brown hijab. Of course i'd be adding a necklace and bangles and rings to dress it up. Is it good?
I can't wait to finally go to a wedding where I don't feel pressured to have to compete against other people in looks, jewelry and clothes, plus I looooove Arab food! I hope they have falafels

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Well girls.. I'm out. My last final is tomorrow. I don't particularly feel like studying, I'm in kind of a daze. I didnt study for the one last night and it was hard but at least it was multiple choice. Tomorrow's is all essay and if I dont study I'm doomed.
Please give me your input on my previous post about the ny&co shirt etc for the wedding. If that fails then its back to the lavender shirt that heba liked inshallah.
Pray for my finals! Gnite everyone and thanks for the advice!

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I'm going to have to second Sugarberry. I've seen all ranges of outfits, but Arab weddings are usually pretty formal and people often come in prom dresses. In the end though it's not that big of a deal since you're not really close to the bride so you're not expected to really go all out. It's still a nice shirt.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
teehee... i went to walgreen's to pick up the free prints... and the lady's like "oh its one free print per household, you'll have to pay for the second one if you really want it." and i asked if i could take a look at them before i decided and she said sure. so i pulled out the prints (portraits from the shaadi and valima) and she starts fawning over them and asking me about henna and desi culture and all sorts of stuff.. and as i pulled out my card to pay for the second print, she goes oh don't worry about it i'll give it to you for free...
i totally knew that would happen...

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
go with the lavendar blouse jelly, itll look more fancy. and, at all the arab weddings ive been to at least, they dont serve arab food especially falafal
usually the food is provided by the hall - chicken, potatoes, veggies, roast beef, things like that.
