But I'm still undecided [/color]

your right it would be weird, you would expect your husband to go the wedding of your close friends, regardless if there are people there he can hang out with, so Go to the wedding and just leave early if your bored.

Yea that makes more sense too when you flip the situation. Hmm.. I dont think I could leave early seeing as my husband's exact words were pretty much "alright then if you really want to go, but know that I'm not leaving early!" So I'm probly stuck the entire time.. oh well. It'll be worth it in the long run, inshallah.

I've been in a situation similar to that. I actually did attend my hubby's close friend's wedding. All his college friends where there and i was sitting at a table just hanging out ...but thank god my sis-in-law and her friend were there..and we drank too many mango lassis, but we left early cuz i was sick w/a cold. Being at the wedding sorta sucked, cuz i didn't know anyone.
Give it a shot..you might enjoy it..and if you dont... you can alway pull the headache excuse hehe

He's my ride. Plus it's on the other side of Chicago and I wouldn't know my way home even if we took separate cars. I guess if I got too bored/awkward I could go visit a mall or walmart or bookstore nearby

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
[this rant somehow helps me]
So I went desi clothes shopping at this place and I found 2 awesome outfits at reasonable prices, BUT the lady who came with me snatched those away and kept it to the side all to herself!! I knew immediately that I wasn't going to get them no matter how much I pleaded with her, even if those were the only ones I was going to buy. And now I can't have them
I couldn't say anything to her because she was my mum's friend and it would've been disrespectful and mean, but when I'm mad, I say and do things without much control. I don't know how I handled myself, but Alhamdullilah I stopped before doing anything regretful. I'm slowly relearning the art of patience like before and to letting things go that might not be in my destiny (that which Allah (swt) wills for me to have and that which he won't).
But still in the back of my mind and heart I held some anger, jealousy, dislike, and contempt for her. But Alhamdullilah, I kept reminding myself that maybe it wasn't meant for me. Maybe there's something much better out there for me and Inshallah I will get it someday. I'm making that my philosophy of life for everything. Letting things go and not getting angry and holding anything against anyone, Inshallah!
I hope I succeed for the better, Inshallah

EDIT: I have this awesome semi-fancy pink abaya with light purple beading and sequins on the bottom and sleeves that I wore on Eid...it's an A-line flowy one, like a dress almost. I would wear it with a matching pink beaded hijab and heels. Is that appropriate?

umm, people wear black pants + heels and a dressy top like a really nice button up tucked in with a nice belt
or you can wear a long skirt
you dont have to go incredibly fancy. i usually wear dresses or skirts to weddings but the ones i wear arent really hijabi friendly haha
edit: yeah you can wear that abaya. im not sure the type of crowd thats gunna be there so i cant really comment. but it sounds nice
