Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I think I'd want my husband present, but ya, standing NEXT to me and only looks at my face!
I wouldn't mind my dad being present but he's an ob/gyn.. otherwise I wouldn't feel very comfortable (though I don't think I like the idea of him delivering me, I'd prefer a female).
My father in law is a neonotoglist (a subspecialty of pediatrics that deal with children who have problems after birth). I'd want him in the room, but right outside would be quite useful. And of course mom, I want my mom present
So mom, husband, and maybe dad (though he's probably insist on being present). If I give birth in my home city, he'd probably have his midwife deliver me.

jellymill - i dont think ur supposed to use anythign there, except products specifically designed for those areas, and they do more than just soaps (if any?), i'm sure they're located near the sanitary towel etc area in the stores.

am I strong or just delusional? who knows. No, I don't have everything ready, I hardly have anything at all. When finals are over, we'll start shopping. My husband seems strangely reluctant to shop just yet. He's not nearly as interested as I am in shopping.

Jelly, don't use soaps, it could cause bacterial infections (that's why my parents never us have bubble baths when were little ) (Maybe that's your problem as bacteria has an odor?) ... there are products specifically designed for that...

I know but it's already so many people!!! Though I like my MIL so if she wanted to be there I wouldn't object. Of course I thought it was a given that she'd be right outside, at the closest!

oh wow, I didn't know that there were midwives available in the US, that's cool. even though i've had a few friends who live outside the states say they felt more comfy to ask questions around their midwives and didn't feel rushed at the appointments -- what exactly is the main difference being treated by a midwife vs OB? or do they work together?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Sona is going to get us all screwed over, dont listen to her!!!!!!!!!!!!11
kidding
Okay, you ladies need to change the topic (thanfully I only read one post, but knowing fph I'm sure all the posts that followed were rich in detail)
Good Morning, Sunshine!
As I went to hit the snooze button, I knocked over the glass of water on my nightstand.
I kept going for the annoying clock and as soon as I touched the snooze bar and realized it was wet from the spilt water, I got hit with 120 volts that woke me up like nothing else ever has. Pissed my bed let loose a sting of words I hadn’t used since I was in the service (USMC).
My loving wife laughed her ass off. I however, could not see the humor. So to teach her a lesson, I grabbed her arm and then touched the clock again to share the experience with her. I got shocked – again. Luckily, my bladder was already emptied from the previous encounter. My wife felt nothing.
Where in the hell did I get the idea that the electricity would flow harmlessly through me and shock her, I’ll never know.

Well there are two types of midwives: nurse midwives and I forget the name of the other but the latter are more old school and kind of "holistic"...
My dad's midwife is a nurse midwife and my dad employs her in his practice. She's not a doctor so she can't diagnose or really treat anyone and if she does treat, it's always under the supervision of a doctor. She can deliver women but my dad (or another doctor who is covering for my dad) has to, at the very least, be within a certain vicinity as midwives are not qualified to deal with certain complications (even if medically, she can't legally).
You can see the midwife for basic pregnancy care, but anything complicated goes straight to the doc.
Because the midwife has less on her plate, she probably does have a bit more time and can give more attention to each patient. I've seen my dad work and he's like rushing from door to door and they have lights and codes outside of each door so he knows who's in what room and that sort of thing.
I'm not sure if other doctors do this (I've never been to one that does) but my dad meets with every patient at least once in his office to discuss any concerns or address any questions, particularly if the patient is pregnant (he sits with both the lady and husband/bf/whatever/other family member). It's just a sit down and talk sort of thing. Maybe the other pregnant ladies have had this experience, I've never been to an ob/gyn.
Ok I kind of went off topic but I hope that answers your question

wear cotton undies, and pantyliners. Change the pantyliners frequently.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
So weird, someone sent me a text msg to my cell but everytime I try to open the text message folder my phone freezes up and shuts off. I tried turning it on/off and taking out the battery but it didn't do anything. Everything else is working fine Can cellphones get viruses?

apparently the new thing is cell phone spam, something they could never do before. I've gotten a couple myself. So.....a phone virus sounds retarded but im sure its totally possible.
