Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Thank GOD next week is the end of the term. I am SO TIRED of this quantum mechanics class. Tommorow is the last day, and I had such a hard time motivating myself to study tonight. Ughhh.... Just ENOUGH!!! Then she sends and e-mail "I realize you're all in X gawdaweful class that will rot your brain as you study, but I really do have to test all your knowledge in my horrendous take-home final, so don't bother complaining about how bad it is" (okay, that's not really what it said, but that's sure how my brain translated it)
I'm starting to show now. My husband is so weird. His ideal would be for me to stay home until I deliver (which I won't do until September inshallah). I really don't understand why. I don't know if it's his culture that women should be hidden at this time, or if he's worried about something happening to me, or what.
Then my dad and step-mom want to come visit. Talking to my dad, I told him that he will have to stay in a hotel when he comes, there is literally no room at the inn. He was all "Oh, I can sleep on your floor" EXCUSE ME???? I'm not gunna make my dad sleep on my floor, especially not one as old and in ill health as him. And what about my step mom? No way she can sleep on the floor. Just take the hotel, and enjoy a king sized bed and free breakfast!
: end of rant

assalamu alaykum
awww chotoo, that means the card u set to ur dad worked, right? masha Allah.
I was told i'm getting a surprised today, so i think I'll get out of my pjs an hour earlier
My nightmares has begun again, except i'm not so upset when I wake up from them now...they're actually scarier when I think about them later in the day. It sucks because if I wake up at 9/10am, i'm alone when I wake up so there's no one to make me feel better. This is why I should move back to my familys house w my husband...then I can carry on going to my mum's room after my husbands left for work

so im thinking...there must be a way to stop ''involuntarily rear expulsions'' during childbirth. I mean, there's no question of kicking out everyone except the midwife if there's no way to stop it. I'm sure it'd be the last thing on any woman's mind as she's being ripped inside and then out...but...pooping urself is not cool. Sorry expectant mothers but this has to be said...and there will ALWAYS be expectant islamican mothers, so there'd never be an appropriate time to comment on such a thing

My dad is an ob/gyn and I asked him once about this. Really, doctors get used to it and they actually set up the bed in a way to accomodate it (at least he does). He said it happens but he was pretty matter of fact about it. I mean ya it stinks (no pun intended) but that's life and I don't think doctors think too much of it. I mean they have other worries too like making sure there are no complications in the labor and that sort of thing.

i was born in dubai (firstborn) because my dad worked there and they admitted my mom to the hospital several days before. She said they starved her and only gave her crackers and water for like 3 days leading up to the birth and my dad had to sneak up little things so she wouldnt go nuts with hunger. i will have to ask her if the cutting down of food helped the situation b/c i know she's told me that "it happens" and "its normal" but there is no way i ever want to do that in front of people (not that im gonna let anyone except my husband be in there anyway but its still gross and embarrassing...which makes me curious..).
To all the ladies who have had babies in here, who do you allow/not allow into the delivery room and why? Ladies who are expecting, who are you going to allow/not allow? And everyone else too, what's your opinion?

yeah i don't care about doctors seeing things, I know they don't think anything of it
(jellymill) I'm just thinking like...if i let my mum in (ok i know she's seen it all when i was a kid ) but like...er..having the husband in the room?! this makes this very difficult for me to oppose the asian traditions of shooing the husband out of the delivery room i guess this is a big part of the reason...but pray tell, why is the mil in there to watch her dil poop? (oh , my mum and husband are the only ones i'd allow in the room. no one else, and if they try i'll throw poop (ahahaha) at them and shout and blame it on the pain )
anyway, this is all hypothetical as i don't intend on having kids anytime soon whatsoever or ever, but I can only tie my camel and not cement its hooves into the ground
ok i think im hyper.
yes so, erm. I'm all for stalks delivering the baby like in Dumbo.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
My dad told me this story about this lady who accidently gave birth to her baby in the toilet. I thought it was the dumbest thing (like hellooo, how could you not know you're giving birth?!), but he explained to me that when a woman gives birth, there's so much pressure and it pushes the rectum, making it feel like you're having a bowl movement. So I wonder, if a woman did "go" during labor, would she even really know at the time?
And if the husband is next to the bed, would he even know (unless it has a strong smell)? If he's sitting next to you, he can't really see what's going on because the woman is wearing something that covers her legs from that angle, ya know?
Oh my God this is getting gross I'm gonna stop
Ok, another story My dad said this lady was giving birth and during labor she kicked her husband

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalamu alaykum
women aren't always covered or on the bed ...so i've been told from medics and ...erm..documentaries
Gosh, like u need poop AND pain. lovely. alhamdulilah. I hope I don't have dreams about this.
I'd probably be one of those women who didn't realise she was having a kid lol. God that's horrible...remember the story of the woman on the train?
anyhoo. PREGNANT PEOPLE you'll be fine insha Allah.
edit: ahah salika, nothing beats my throwing poop comment. I think i'd have to go and give birth in a private hospital, and like..the cleaners and whatnot would work as fast as the ones at the ka'ba and wizz around so fast u wouldnt notice a thing. And I think women hit/shout at their male partners alot I think mr.z is more worried about seeing me in pain though, when I had food poisening he was dying and running around looking after me. Perhaps it'd be kinder to make him wait outside and then rush in when the baby is about to emerge?
ooo what if a woman is having a caeserean (sp?!) there'd be no pushing, right?
