I think of it this way....I can look weird and out of place either way but at least with a burkini I can go in the water or actually do normal stuff non-hijabis do.

Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences?

Chotoo, that must really suck.

While I was doing my surgery rotation last year, one of the cardiothoracic surgeons died - of a heart attack, in his sleep.

Me too. For me it's not a question of halaalness, I wear pants and shirts all the time (I just dont want the burkinis that have super tight legging-pants)...plus I just cant imagine myself going in the water with a jilbab . I'm trying to do the opposite of what this one girl did... she went into the ocean fully clothed in shalwar qameez and dupatta as hijab with plenty of staring non-Muslims around (friends with her described her looking like a frantic retarded dolphin )

i'm so unbelievably content being single these days, alhamdulillah... i've been hearing all these reality, slap in your face type stories about adjusting after marriage and especially in laws related drama..and i'm thankful i don't have to deal with any of that because i don't know if i'm ready..i'm so glad i don't have to factor in a whole family before doing anything right now. all i need is my parents permission. and if i think that's hard, man that's nothing compared to what goes down in the married zone. a lot of times all you hear is the nice stuff about marriage, but there's plenty of sacrifices that need to be made in order for those few happy moments and im not sure im ready to invest so much effort in something. i'm just so content having my own space and being able to do things that i want when i want.

anyway i dont mean to sound selfish or stuck up, much love to all those who are hitched or getting hitched. may Allah make things easy for you all, ameen

ameen . In my opinion it's only as hard as you make it (i.e. your choice of spouse, your attitude and your reactions to various things [inlaws etc] determine pretty much everything). Also I think too many people dont ask the right questions BEFORE tying the knot which is quite careless on their part and/or their parents' part.

So far I love being married, alhamdulillah
