If I'm not saying Taraweeh, and I'm just saying it after Isha, then I pray Isha, then 2 rakats sunnah, and then 3 rakats for witr (like saying maghreb) and the first two rakats are for a nafl prayer, then 1 for witr (witr means one I guess). If I'm saying witr before fajr prayer, after tahajud, then I also just say it one, since tahajud is supposed to be an odd number of rakats, with the last rakat being for witr (what I've been taught and read). I hope I didn't just confuse you.

Im asking because alot of people dont know youre not supposed to pray witr like maghrib.
Oh and Zakk, yea kinda.

You can in Hanafi mahdab. And you don't really pray it exactly like Maghreb either. You say three rakats at once, knowing that 2 are for a nafl prayer, and the third is actually witr prayer. That nafl is an after Isha prayer that is like tahajud, so if you don't think you will be able to wake up for tahajud, you pray 2 nafl after isha, and kind of combine that 2 nafl into witr, for a total of 3 rakats. If you are praying Tahajud, you don't do it like that. At least that's what my book says. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time so someone correct me.

Then they are doing it propperly for Hanafi madhab. You can search witr prayer in sunnipath to see why they do it like that. The Islam-qa site is a salafi site, and they have different ideas about things. There is a big disagreement between salafi's and hanafi's among other reasons because salafi's just make taraweeh 8 rakats, then 3 for witr (2+1), for a total of 11 rakats. Their reasoning for this is taht taraweeh in Ramadan is just tahajud, but brought up and done in congregation, and there is a hadeeth stating that tahajud should be no more than 11 rakats (including witr). Hanafi's hold the position that it should be 20 rakats, and that it's an extra prayer specific to Ramadan only, and tahajud is something you do after taraweeh.
So, there you go. Clear as mud I'm sure.

By praying like Maghrib, do you mean that they don't say a surah after Surah Fatiha in the last raka'ah, and no Takbeer for Dua-e-Qunoot?
The following is the correct method of praying witr in the Hanafi madhhab:
3 Rakaats Witr-Wajib
This three-Rak'ah Namaaz is offered during the ESHA Namaaz.
First the two Rak'ahs are performed and after completing the Tashahhud stand up in the original position with the arms folded.
After reciting " BISMILLAH" and "ALHAMDO" and a Surah, say "ALLAHU AKBAR" raising the hands upto the ears and folding them below the navel (for females it's on the chest). Thereafter recite the DU'A QUNOOT (softly)
Dua-E-Qunoot
Go into RUKU, and then complete the NAMAAZ in the usual manner.

Ramadan, Day 1.
The first salaat of Ramadan is like drowning. Falling to my knees, letting my forehead gracefully flow to the floor. “Subhana rabbi-al-Allah, subhana rabbi-al-Allah, subhana rabbi-al-Allah,” I whisper into janamaz. Slowly and softly. With such internal clarity. But we can feel the danger, even seconds into the initial plunge. We can almost hear the chains rattling, the eternal menace angrily pacing his cage. He bides his imprisonment, never content with his handiwork of the past year and always eager to wreak more havoc on souls. While he broods in his cell, we’re left to battle the shadows he’s imprinted on our hearts. Is 30 days enough to repair the damage? Salvation can be a virtue of time, provided we don’t waste the opportunity.
