Anyways, so last night I wanted to floss and to my sad surprise, my floss was done.. "Noooo!" I said, but alas, there was nothing I could do. Today I was really contemplating whether I should go to walgreen's today or tomorrow (I was soooo tired) and I decided for some reason to just go today. Subhanallah, when I was looking around for what I needed, this random lady, somewhat excited, was trying to tell me something... in Spanish. She didn't speak English (as many in this city do not) and she was like "un pregunta.." I know a little bit of Spanish so I understood that she had a question and from her body language, she was determined to ask it. She went to an employee in the store and asked him to translate and she said something with "una mesquita" and he didn't know what a "una mesquita" was but I did It's a mosque. She really wanted to get to a mosque. I didn't have any information on me like with street names and I was trying to tell her about one nearby but I knew it was not enough info. Anyways, I gave her my Email and told her to Email me and I'd reply with the information. Literally 30 mins later, she had already sent an Email! Subhanallah, so I replied right away. It seems her name is an Arab one so I figured maybe she wanted to go back to the deen or learn about Islam... masha'Allah, may Allah guide her!

it's not unusual for latino people to have arabic-sounding names. i know quite a few people who are not muslim (or arab) and yet are named "omar" or "yasmin," or who have the surname "medina."
if you want to get her in contact with someone who speaks spanish (or better yet, a latino revert) i can definitely hook you up

No her last name too was Arab. A lot of Latin Americans have roots back to the Middle East. And she kept saying "assalamu alaikum" to me but I'm not sure if she was saying it to be polite or if she was doing it because that was her practice (I think it's the latter because she was using it pretty freely and she even had variations like in her Email she just wrote "salam" at the end)

I told her she was free to Email me if she needed anything else so insha'Allah. I think I'll follow up with her in a couple of weeks

I usually cook with olive oil, it's deeeelicious. I used to eat harisa (mushed up dried chilli) just so i could dip the bread in the olive oil

salika that was soo nice of you mashallah! honestly, i woudlnt have even guessed the "una mesquita" part. its embarrasing how spanish is the official second language of houston and yet i dont know it...(i took 2 years of french in middle school so i knwo some of that but that never comes in handy around here!)

so i went to walgreens too, and i bought some clean and clear 2% salicylic acid gel to get rid of that huge pimple which looks more like a mosquito bite to me at the moment. and theres another one growing right under it. it looks disgusting. hopefully inshallah it clears up soon!

also, have any of u ladies used mederma for your scars? i was contemplating over using that or not. my scars have become very light alhumdulilah but i still want them go all the way away. whats your opinions on using it? im veryyy picky when it comes to putting stuff on my face that isnt natural since i have EXTREMELY sensitive skin!
