i wouldnt recommend it (taking pills). it takes months for ladies to find the right pill that works with their bodies. i gave up on the pills because some brands made me too nauseous while others had breakthrough bleeding for over 3 weeks. it would suck to be fasting and spotting and having nausea and crazy psycho mood swings all at the same time. if you really want to go through with it, try it for next year insha'allah.

Jazakallah khair.
i think razia gave a good answer to your question...there are different types of BC pills that work differently, and not everyone reacts the same way to different kinds. the best way to get to where you can accurately predict and control when you get your period would be after being steadily treated for a few months at least (some ppl need more time, some less). however, i dont think its a bad idea. ive known several people that have done this before vacation, or hajj, or their wedding, and it has worked out well for them, alhamdulillah. as far as side effects of birth control go, they can vary a lot depending on the person and the brand you use. usually the ones with lower levels of hormones provide less chance of side effects than their counterparts that have higher levels.

i think your best bet, hamna, is to talk to a dr about it and whether or not she thinks its a good idea for you. personally, i think its cool that girls have an option to delay things a bit every once in a while, and i dont think its unhealthy to do so (in most cases). it may be a little late for you to have the desired effect this ramadan, but its still worth a shot. for a lot of people, just taking active hormone pills will delay your period until a few days after you discontinue taking them, even without beng stable on it for a few weeks/months. so bottom line...talk to your doctor asap and inshallah things will work out for you

(but also be aware that birth control does carry the risk of rare but still serious side effects for some women, and no medication is completely safe. think about the risks and benefit and decide if its worth it for you) remember that even if you cant pray or sit in the prayer hall of the masjid, you can still make lots of duaa, inshallah khair

Jazakallah khair ladies. I really appreciate the help. I knew I could count on FPH. I've been considering going through with it, but from what I've gathered you need to be doing it for a longer period of time. I'll visit the pharmacy and check it out Insha'Allah. The side effects are a bit putting off. In the end I guess I can just make dua they don't come the last ten days if I don't end up taking it.

anyone here seen "khuda ke liye" ? i just watched it... very good movie. didnt know pakistanis could come up with something like this.

here's a link (StopDesi.Com - Desi Bollywood Lollywood Pakistani Indian VIDEOS Stream Download -) where you can see it, you might have to register to get in. there's no songs/dancing, and its nothing like the usual bollywood/lollywood garbage. and none of the retarded cheesy music bombarding you during dialogues and stuff. i'm really impressed.

I hate dumb girls. This morning my classmate called me and said that she was going to be late to school because she moved back home. No biggie, right? Well, she moved back home because her boyfriend decided to beat the sh*t out of her. And even after a busted lip, bruised eyes, a bloody nose, and various bruises and scars all over her freaking body, she's DEFENDING him. WTF? She said that he didn't mean it and that he has other emotional and psychological problems. Umm, yeah he has psychological problems if he thinks its okay to use you as a punching bag. I find it so frustrating that she doesn't see anything wrong with what happened. And she's a loon if she thinks he's going to change and that this will never happen again.

Thats acutally very normal for women who have been in abusive relationships to think that....i think their is a psychological disorder they have after sustaining long periods of abuse. So try not to judge her.

So my health insurance plan changed and now I pay outright for the doctors visit and mail my receipts to the company to get reimbursed. So I went to the dermatologist because I had dry spot on my face that wasn't clearing up and was red and flaky for 2 months, the visit lasted 5 minutes and cost $55, I expected a lot worse so that was pretty good.

Then I went to get my prescription and it costs $124. for a little tube of medicated cream. (vaseline, aloe gel, and tea tree oil weren't working so this better). I can't believe it costs that much.

At first, I really wasn't judging her especially when she called me early this morning and even when she was talking to me at school. However later, she revealed to me that she knew his past - that he was abusive to three former girlfriends, who warned her. I could understand if he was a great guy in the sense that he had a good job, was in school, or was doing something with his life, but he's not. She's supporting him; he can't even pay his rent. I don't know. I do know that he had a very, very rough childhood and my classmate's childhood wasn't ideal, but I really wish that I could make her understand/see that she's worth much, much more. There is someone out there for her that will treat her with respect and the way she deserves to be treated. She's not a doormat and she shouldn't act like one.

Allah Swt forbid this happens to any of us or anyone we know iA.

Geez! Ask for samples. If you let the doctor know that you're a student and that you have to pay for your medications, they usually sympathize and throw a plethora of creams at you. I know my dermatologist did .
