I think they're really cool. I'd use one
Some of my friends who use 'em say they're really comfortable too. *shrug* And one of my friends says they can even fit a person who...uhh.. has an intact hymen still, but I doubt that.
Yeah, I should learn to thread too. My aunt and cousin taught themselves by practicing on themselves. Their legs. Ouch.

ya, my ex was telling me about them, and I was totally grossed out. Not so much by the concept but the fact that HE was telling me about it. I dont think I could bring myself to use it though. Im picky with my products.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalam alaykum,
I was wanting to know has anyone taken pills to stop menstruation if it comes around the last ten days of Ramadan or the sort? I've heard that the Scholars say it is permissible. But I was wanting to know if there were/are any side effects or disadvatages to it? Anyone?
Jazakallah khair.

Sh mokhtar maghroui actually had a ramadan seminar that i was able to go to. This question came up and he basically told us the story about the sahabi women who used some herbal medication to alter the menstrual cycle for these sorts of reasons. and it was allowed.
He also went on to warn the sisters about doing this, and how the pills sometimes dont work and sometimes even make the bleeding period longer. so he basically said it was ok, but to be careful about its efficacy.
My take on it: bcp pills usually take a few months to normalize. so i mean you can try it, but it might not work. however, some of us who are planning on going to hajj this year inshAllah, might want to start now to get it most effective by dhul hijjah.

Jazakallah khair. I was planning it for the last ten days of Ramadan. Because that is where my date falls. However, I haven't done it before. [Taking pills] Should I speak to a pharmacist?

hmm well youre gonna need to go to a gynecologist to prescribe it to you. so you should ask her about all the details, they'll tell you all the details. you might experience things such as breakthrough bleeding etc. and theres different levels of estrogen and progesterone in each kind of bcp. a higher dose of estrogen causes more stomach cramps but helps with acne type issues. a higher dose of progesterone causes less cramping, but could result in acne. hmm also i think it was the more estrogenic bcp are more effective in regulating the cycle, but i could be wrong (its been a while since i read up on that stuff)

i wouldnt recommend it (taking pills). it takes months for ladies to find the right pill that works with their bodies. i gave up on the pills because some brands made me too nauseous while others had breakthrough bleeding for over 3 weeks. it would suck to be fasting and spotting and having nausea and crazy psycho mood swings all at the same time. if you really want to go through with it, try it for next year insha'allah.
