I don't understand what education has to do with it. Some people are very educated in a traditional sense, but that doesn't necessarily have any bearing on how they treat people, their ideas about family etc.

I think it has a lot to do with having an open mind and accepting, understanding, and learning from other people's point of views.

most people think that an uneducated "jahil" mother-in-law might impose dumb rules and make paranoid assumptions. newsflash: even western-educated MILs are very capable of doing that being open-minded, understanding, and empathetic aren't necessarily characteristics picked up during years of higher learning.

True, it's the same thing with husbands. I think you just have to find someone you are compatible with.

Exactly - education is not a predictive factor for this item.

salaam ladies!

my msa's considering having a speaker named "gwendolyn simmons" come and speak about women in islam. i haven't heard of her and no one else has, except for this one non-muslim girl in our msa. has anyone heard of her or anything about her? particularly her stance on women in islam? i've googled a bit and the results don't seem that promising...

any help would be greatly apprecited. jazakAllah khair
