Re: Female Personal Hygiene
salaam ladies! operation "buy farah a watch" was a success, alhumdulillah! jazakAllah khair for all the input
FPH MISSION #2: my hair is really straight (alhumdulillah), but i want it curled for foozball's mehndi, inshaAllah. i know i can curl it myself with a curling iron (i've done it plenty of times before), but my problem is THE CURLS DON'T STAY for more than an hour! no matter what i do -- not wash my hair the day of a party, use hair gel, mousse or spray (whatever's lying around at home) -- it won't stay.
how can i get my curls to stay curly for at least 4-5 hours?

Do you think it was specifically the progesterone that gave you the ovarian cyst? Did it go away by itself or did you have some meds/operation?
My friend had a few ovarian cysts and was in the MOST PAIN EVER, but i think they burst

anyone have a positive experience with BC pills? i only hear the negative.

i dotn know much about birth control pills, and ive never taken them..but ive read that the weight gain part is a myth. the pills that came out years and years ago had those kinda side effects but nowadays they dont do anything like that.
like the only reason someone may gain weight i guess is because they could get more moody or PMSy and eat a lot more crap..but the pill itself doesnt make the estrogen wack or cause you to save fat

I have no idea what exactly caused it. I ended up in the ER becuase I thought I had a burst appendix, the pain was so intense. They did a CT and found a lot of fluid in my abdomen, so despite other tests being negative, they decided to remove my appendix. When they got there, they found that my appendix was fine (they removed it anyway), and the problem was a very large cyst on my left ovary. The surgeon drained it, and sent me home. My doctor then discontinued the BC pills. That wasn't the first cyst I'd had, but it was the worst.
Oh, and to answer the other question, my due date is September 4.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Ovarian cysts can be treated by medication and do not require surgery. Actually, some BC pills treat cysts by shrinking them. I had an ultrasound of my insides few weeks ago and alhamdulillah I'm cyst free and according to the nurse, my organs are "cute."

My dad told me that studies show that a woman on average could gain 5 pounds, if there is any weight gain at all. I didn't gain weight while I was on the pill alhamdulillah. Maybe it's a scapegoat I don't know...

You're right, if they are small, and don't present complications. I think surgery to remove/drain cysts is actually pretty rare. Every other cyst I've had was treated by waiting, and ultrasound checks to make sure it didn't get gainormous.
My sis though, she was even worse off than me. She got double ovarian cysts with grew to very large size very quickly (little apples) one ruptured, and the other twisted the stalk of the falopian tube. She had to have major surgery then to fix the problem. Doctor told her she was lucky not to lose her ovaries altogether. She was using Mirena (and IUD which also releases progesterone), but her doctor apparently didn't think it was a problem, because she's still using it.
So yeah, don't let my weird body chemistry deter you from using BC.
looks like I pulled a muscle in my upper back. have to get Mr. ChotooMotoo to give me a back massage now...

Oh wow... that's pretty crazy. Alhamdulillah everything turned out ok in the end...
Out of curiousity, did you or your sister exhibit symptoms of hirsuitism while you had the cysts? If you don't mind me asking..
I still hurt, I wish Mr. Salika was around to give me a massage
