Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I weighed myself this morning and I lost weight, (1 pound totally counts). I think I will get that new Alli pill. Ive been supposed to get it since it came out, but I spent my money on food instead. I need to lose weight, because according to my dad, it's haram to sell a sick cow. (me being the sick cow.)

salam...wow i hope your dad was joking...thats not a nice thing to say.
the pharmacist in me just had to comment about alli real quick though. it is the only diet pill that i would recommend otc...but i wouldnt recommend it to everyone. it is a lower strength of a prescription medication called xenical. at prescription strength, its shown to be effective in blocking about a third of the fat that you eat from being absorbed in your body. however...that doesnt come along without some side effects. nothing really serious healthwise because the medication works in your intestines without really being absorbed into the body..but rather some unpleasant side effects. basically...if you dont commit to substantially restricting your fat intake, youre gonna have some gross side effects like diarrhea, oily stools, flatulence, sudden urge to defecate, etc.
so what im trying to say...alli can be a good medication for some ppl, but use with caution if you feel like you arent going to be able to control the fat intake. its not something you are gonna want to just take without making other changes as well. i just wanted you to think about these things before you waste a good amount of money on it...its pretty expensive where i work...about 80 bucks for a month supply i believe. good luck, inshallah all goes well for you

Fathers can say really hurtful things to you sometimes, but don't let it get to you.
I was thinking how the Prophet (PBUH) had the biggest burden on him as our messenger, yet he never mistreated his wives and his daughters. In fact, he handled them with extra care since women can be fragile. When faced with a burden or stress, most men these days treat their women like crap. Aren't the mehrams in our lives supposed to protect us, not mistreat us?

They are...most don't realise realise...or realise it too late. There are so very few men with integrity left in the world.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Purple_alien: That's a horrible thing for him to say.
Boys suck and some of them never grow up. I tell my grandma that she didn't beat my dad enough when he was a kid. She laughs and says she did.
She says one time when he was a kid, she told him to go get this rope that was hanging on the barn's door and he said "NO" in a really rude way and so she went and got it and tied him up with it to the door. Then one of my grandaunts (grandpa's sisters who all dote on my dad) came by and saw it and told my grandma she was being too harsh and she told her to just move along and mind her own business or she'll do the same to her.
And she told me about how one time soon after my parents got married, they had a fight for some reason. My dad had come home after a long day of work and was stressed out and snapping at everybody because the power was out (they always spliced electrical wires/cables together to make the power work, but earlier in the day, this guy from the government had come by and told them not to do that since it's dangerous... and when they told my dad that when he came home, he said they should have just told him where to go and that's what he would have done if he were home). Anyway, then he told my mom to hold a lamp while he was writing something and he yelled at her for holding it at the wrong angle or something like that and he made her cry.
And neither of them would tell my grandma what had happened. And then my grandma yelled at my my dad and was all "Is that why I brought her into our home, for you to treat her like this?!" And then she was gonna beat him up, but my mom intervened.
And my mom says that guys shouldn't get married until they know how to appreciate a wife and that she thinks my dad got married when he was too much of a kid (he was 25 but that just goes to illustrate the point).
Anyway... I heart pedicures. Damn, my feet are so cute, MashaAllah.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
i think it's cute with MILs scold their sons when they upset their wives it would be even cuter if guys didn't upset their wives though.

aww, that's a terrible thing to say
Sis i wouldn't recommend diet pills, quick fixes are never a good idea- there are always side effects. I hate to sound cliche, but a good diet and exercise is healthiest.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Asallamu 'alaikum wa rahmatulLahi wa barakatuh
That's why I really don't want to get married until I find a decent guy who won't abuse me.
Ugh.
But that's adorable about the mother-in-law. x3
