question... do any of you hijabi ladies ever just wear a hoodie and not wear a hijab under it? i've done it a few times and i've got to say... the reactions i get while wearing hijab vs. wearing a hoodie... it's like night and day! people are actually friendly when i'm wearing a hoodie, and they don't do double takes or anything.

lol it's funny you mention that. the other week, we were going out just to get ice cream and drive around because it was a pretty night and snowing, so i put my hair in a ponytail and wore a one of those cute winter hats, tucking my bangs and stray hairs in.
i live in a pretty diverse city, so i never get strange looks, but that day people were so much more talkative to me. for example, as soon as we got into the elevator, this gay couple that lives on our floor started chatting with us at how the party room is so nice now etc etc. anyway, it was a fun/different experience, might do it more often

I've done that countless times and it feels good......its like a little break for me ....and I agree with the people reaction. Its kinda sad on their part but I feel for once I'm 'normal' and nobody is staring or acting weird around me

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Do I wanna spend $60 on a haircut?! Keep in mind this will be the last thing I'll spend my money on...and have never had this done before. Thanks.

Depends.. what if you like the haircut and nobody else can do it the same way again? You'll have to give up $60 each time and that would really suck .
edit: Actually what might happen is that you'd get addicted to the place with the expensive haircuts... that's kinda what happened to me but my stylist and I actually became friends. I still sometimes get haircuts at the salon and pay for it but she offered to color my hair at home for way cheaper.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
True. I guess i'm just getting it becuase they say a new hair cut can bring out a new you...I really need that. Maintaining it won't be a problem since my mom used to be a stylist...she won't cut my hair the way I want it though....

anyone else notice drastic changes in the chest area? If my weight is too low my chest gets pretty flat too . When I gained 10 lbs, like 1.5 - 2 cup sizes came with it
|
Though my weights never been too low, it sucks when the weight loss becomes 'curve loss' but your flabby belly's still there, jiggling away merrily .
I wish I could excercise lots and eat like a pig and still lost weight. I dont excercise too much coz, where do you find the time? But I can excercise a decent amount in the summer when I have no uni, but I still feel like I have to miss out and not enjoy food to be able to lose weight .
Right now Im just not excercising and eating like a pig anyway. The other day I woke up for fajr and ate, went back to sleep, woke again and ate, went shopping, had lunch inc a huge peice of choc cake, came home had lamb and potato curry and rice, at night I ate again . I swear I was hungry all those times .
That's what happens with me, lose weight in the summer, put twice as much weight back on the rest of the year.
I want to be 112-119ish, but usually once I hit 126 I get lazy and think to myself, 'I can enjoy food now' and start going back up again. I used to be 154 when I was 15 . And I'm prob shorter than most of you girls (5ft 3.5").

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
some people post way too much information on Islamica. I think we're pushing our luck with hoping it will crash again

that's the funniest thing I've heard all day ...and I hate that too!
I used to go to school part time and work part time. I bellydanced, did yoga, treadmill, light weights and stuff like crunches, squats etc. I was soooo addicted and I had the flattest stomach ever (but also the flattest everything else ). Now that I'm in school full time it's hard to find time to exercise and I really wanted to attend the yoga classes at the campus gym. I'm lazy and ended up not going so I signed up for Kinesiology 100, a yoga class (for 1 credit). Now I HAVE TO go otherwise I get an F and if I dont practice at home I look like a fool in class while everyone else is advancing in their flexibility.
After I do yoga at home, I think 'what's it gonna hurt' and just throw in some squats and crunches....I fooled my lazy self muahaha
