Acrylic is so damaging though and I don't think wudu is permissible because your natural nail is totally covered.

I'm only going to wear them for the evening but I'm praying as a traveler (combining) so once i pray dhuhr/asr I'm gonna put them on and take them off in the evening.

Alhamdulillah I have nice nails but I'm not gonna have time to do them and I wanted to cut them anyway because long nails are annoy me and you need long nails for a french manicure.

I need a little help...

Do you know of any effective face/neck skin brighteners that also evens the skin tone? Sun damage has caused some discoloration and my skin also looks a bit dull. I was told by this desi beautician lady that at VS theres some kind of milk lotion or something that works for desi skin....she swore by it. Does anyone know what I'm referring to? I looked up on the website and didn't find anything close to what she mentioned, but I found this: Has anyone tried it?

Victoria's Secret - Skin Brightening Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

Are there any other ones that work?

I would rather go to a dermatologist, but I don't have insurance and I can't find a cheap one around. So I gotta make do with something

If you put on professional acrylic at the salon, it will make your natural nails paper thin. And it takes a very long time to soak them off. You literally have to sit there for hours and keep your fingers in acetone and file the crap off. Anyway, I think you should just go and get a manicure. Nail polish only takes a few minutes to dry with a high powered hair dryer !

My sister got this cream for "brown" skin tones. It's designed by a derm and supposed to even skin tone. It's at sephora...

I'm confused, how does acrylic damage the nail? Wouldn't it be the glue that's damaging?

I'm talking about the nail set from target...

I was talking about acrylic nails from an actual salon - not the kind you can buy in the beauty-health aisle. Anyway, just to explain for explaining's sake, when you go to a nail salon to get acrylic, they put a tip at the end of your real nail. The tip is the fake nail. They manicurist cuts and files it down to an appropriate length. Now its been a very, very long time for me, 2001 (I think), but then they put this powder/gel thing that hardens and becomes your "nail". That stuff covers your natural nail and the tip.

Anyway, I've worn acrylic before and it sucks, but I've never tried the kind that you do yourself. Good luck with that, but if you have really pretty natural nails, stick with that .

It's called "For Brown Skin". She just started using it so I don't know but sephora has a good policy about returning products that you are not satisfied with.

Since I cut my nails I can't do a french, guess next time I'll let them grow a bit at least so I can do it. I'm doing it mostly for the pictures and considering (with rings) will be a focus of the pictures...

My nails naturally look wonderful but not french manicure. Just once anyway, I have no intention of making this a habit.. too high maintenance.

tnx... I'll look that up

I've been using this and it really hasn't done much except now my face doesn't get as dry/oily as it used to. The consistency of the cream is awesome.....doesn't feel heavy or anything...

And I can return products that I don't want.....its just that I want to find something that actually works!

my cousin had it done for her sisters wedding.....took her a year to get back to her naturally good looking nails

I have awesome nails and I grow them out, but even I would like to have a french manicure done once
