DST = Daylight Savings Time. You know that whole spring an hour forward, fall an hour back etc.

O ok.. and my baad fooz.
I've been living in VA for about 5 months now and i havent tried any hair salons here, i'm too afraid that they'll mess up my hair. I always go to this one lady in NJ by my mom's house. Even when i lived in NJ i would drive 1 hour to get my haircut from that lady. I just don't trust anyone else. lol
this reminds me that i need to get my bangs cut again. i guess i can go somewhere in VA for that.

I know I couldn't believe it either, but the hair stylist told my cousin that it's cheap since it's a school/institution.
I think I'm gonna try to schedule an appt for this Friday/weekend cuz there's a few dholkis coming up...hehe.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Ya, I didn't like the cut that my hair stylist gave me too much. Without asking me, she decided to cut my hair a bit unevenly around because she was saying that since people's hair grow unevenly, the straight-end look gets ruined, didn't quite understand but she just started snapping before I could stop her and now it kinda looks jaggedy. I hope when my hair starts growing it's less obvious.
I have an appellate brief and a 20 page before that I need to work in the next week and a half.
And I miss my fiance-hubby man.
Alhamdulillah though, too much to be grateful for. I smell food

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
What exactly is a dholki, silvermalaikah?
I had my hair cut at the hairdressers when I was seven. And I cried my eyes out quietly .
I dunno why the heck they wanted me to cut my hair (my sisters). "Go on, you'll look like Lois Lane! "
"I dont wanna look like Lois Lane! "
Yea so I haven't been since. Only cuz my sisters used to chop and trim it. Then when older I was like hmm I cant be bothered to waste my money since I'm gonna be in hijab.
But then I wanted it done, but didnt know a hijabi-friendly place to go to. (still dont..)
I layered my own hair twice. First time it was fine, second time it was slightly too drastic and less gradual as theres a lot of diff between the longest and the shortest bits, but that only happened because I had less hair than the first time and I didnt realise how much I was cutting, till I got to the back and realised there wasnt much more to cut, and also I didnt want to make it really short, I wanted to keep the general overall length.
So ANYway, I'm still waiting for the shortest bits to grow long, so I can have it layered professionally but still have 'long' hair. Though I still dont want to waste a lot of money .

Alhamdulilah for everything.
To delve a little further into that thought. If we were to be shown all the food we've eaten since day one, every grain of rice, every cute little chicken, every article of clothing, every brick that sheltered us....how many mountains would there be? and how many mountains of shukr do we have in comparison?

jazakallah khair...great reminder, puts things in perspective.
little thanks we give.
alhamdulillah for everything.

I like longer days so I like DST but I totally forgot it was today so I woke my normal time but wondered why my computer and cell phone were an hour ahead... plus I'm working on a huge assignment and I kinda want that extra hour but oh well, I'm bumming on Islamica so I don't have any right to complain
back to work!

Im getting my hair cut from Aveda this week (only place I go to). It can be expensive depending on the stylist you go to. They have a ranking system: master stylist, senior stylist, junior stylist, newbie. Honestly, I dont see much of a difference between the master and any other person, in fact I wouldn't even go to the master stylist because they dont wash your hair or have that 'talk' with you before your cut (where you explain exactly what you want). They have assistants who take care of that . But if you make your appointment on a Wed they only charge you $20 instead of the normal $30 with newbie or junior stylist. (At least that's how it is here)

This is the song that the bride walks into. Everyone comes into the hall like normal then once everyone is in and seated, they dim the lights and lalalala leeeesh! You play the song and the bride makes a grand entrance (if it's mixed, it's the couple walking in).
Sometimes the groom walks with in the bride then he leaves if the wedding is not mixed. Others have the bride come in alone at first then at the end, she leaves and re-enters with the groom with another song and they exchange rings, cut cake, do a dance, etc. I'm gonna do the latter insha'Allah
Here's an example (same song, but they added some spanish and changed the beat up a bit, but you get the idea)
YouTube - Hassan & Farah Wedding (note: has music)
Sooo exciiiited!
