that's how i do it. but there are lots of "rules" if you like that stuff. I got the cd verision of Reflection of Pearls (? is that it?) and they talk about that...and then there are always dua's the prophet saw used to make. many scholars think the best duas are those that appear in the Quran or were uttered by the Prophet saw. So if you can find any that pertain to praying for others in hadith/Quran then go for it.
But I just make regular dua b/c I'm lazy and didn't grow up Muslim so these things weren't passed on to me by my momma.

Meaning she raises her hands and asks thinks like "Allh (swt) please make it easier for so and so"
Right?

yeah...that's what i meant. "regular." also a good idea to praise Allah and ask for blessings on the Prophet saw in addition to whatever you are asking for as well.
now I'm paranoid...is that wrong?
I know that a lot of born muslims I have met, their parents taught them specific duas that are meant for very specific problems/event/occurances, like when you go to the bathroom, when you lost something. some of these are from the Prophet saw/Quran, and other are made up through the years by scholars or not.
And while they are nice to know, and some scholars would say they increase your chance of your duas being answered, I would think that they are not necessary.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Yeah, I've learned most of my duas from school, since I grew up Muslim. But I forget a lot. ^^; So basically I have the bathroom duas and the new clothes dua.
Ah, so there isn't a specific way to do it? I'll stick with my prayer requests then. Thanks for all the help! ^_^ -hugs-

From my understanding, she was on the way BACK from the airport so I guess it was just her.

I just wanted to illustrate what making "regular" dua means. I do it the same way, so does everyone else I know who is Muslims, so I assume we're all doing it right. Any dua that you make from your heart asking for something halal will be answered inshallah.
