I just fear for very naive girls, that's all. I see it all the time, esp in the masaajid, newly weds speaking of marriage and the younger girls and go twinkle eyed. It just worries me, esp as I have a younger sister, I want her to make informed decisions with rational and realistic expectations and not romanticise everything, which young girls do. So the girls dream and dream of marriage and sometimes rush into it and obsess over it and have crazy ideals and get disappointed when the poor guy isnt serenading her 24/7.
I heard that in yemen, unmarried girls don't go to weddings. I like that.

bollywood definitely isn't helping with the situation.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalam alaykum
I was so engrossed in that post i let a fricking mosquito bite me. Where are they coming from ?1 i dont even open windows.
The community I was in was predominately arab/white (as in white mothers, and mixed race children) so bollywood didnt really come into it. It's more about the women bigging up marriage and no-one talking about the other side of marriage - the hard work, dedication and devotion. Not telling the girls a happy marriage doesnt come without good character, hard work and learning from your mistakes.
I really dont know why the aunties were always trying to hook us up, why they were so eager to matchmake when we were all so immature and naive. They know a marriage requires maturity, why would they want 16 year old girls? Perhaps they weren't thinking of the girls best interests, allahu alim, but their sons, I wouldn't know.
What I do know is that if i ever had a daughter, she would be clued up, know a good guy from a good guy and learn to enjoy life with and without a man. Insha Allah. That's the plan anyway.

Huh? that doesnt sound right . Two of my unmarried best friends are straight out of Yemen and they always went to weddings. Maybe it's just certain subcategories of people in their community, like the same diversity that exists in desi communities?

well u gotta balance it out. You have to moisturize with an oil-free, non-comedogenic face lotion because trying to get rid of the oil too ferociously will just make it oilier and it will break out more.

Living as a couple, forming a relationship, being patient in adversity, loving to the extent of enduring, grounding by way of reforming is an initiation to spirituality. Knowing how to be one with God assures greater comfort in being together as two. A challenge, a test, far from the ideal, close to reality.
Sisters and brothers, you must prepare yourselves to live one of the most beautiful tests of life. It requires all from you, your heart, your conscience, and your efforts. The road is long. One must learn to demand, to share, and to forgive...indefinitely.
This meeting place, these efforts will result in a sense of protection: They are your garments and you are their garments. Know how to be patient, learn how to be affectionate, offer forgiveness, and you will attain the spirituality of the protected, the proximity of the ones that are close. Faith then becomes your source of light and "his or her" presence, becomes your source of protection; the test of your heart, the energy of your love, half of your faith.
I pray to God that this love be the school of your efforts and the light of your patience.

SubhanAllah, that excerpt made me want to get married more than any cutesy stuff mentioned earlier ever would. SubhanAllah. InshAllah.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Umm so today I noticed my math professor's bike helmet had a word in arabic written out at the back in white-out. When I realized what the word was, this was my reaction, in that order-->
Apparently he had written it himself and knew the meaning of it after googling ......but I was getting really impatient because I wanted to know the reason behind it. So I asked and he gave me no reason, but just smiled and was surprised that I knew arabic ..............For a moment I thought I was hallucinating....and no, its not a curse word. It was actually: Kaafir
