I agree ....unless its a issue of schooling i think all those things should be done close to one another.
I know one couple who had thier nikkah done....and then were gonna have their walima in 2 years ...and then she got pregnant and missed having a 'real' wedding.

the birdal showers we have are like friends, family, brides side, grooms side (the women, of course). but theres like people's moms and stuff. theyre actually really fun, we play games and eat and dance and stuff..
but when its a bunch of people we cant really have our time with the bride, which is why we did the lingerie party, it was like 10 of us, was reaaally fun.
anywho, are nikkah and walima synonymous with katbktaab and wedding? im confused now too lol

Ya, my fiance-husband and I pretty much consider ourselves married and our parents are pretty liberal don't require us to be chaperoned 24/7 and he's even allowed to visit me (I live away from home) but a lot of Arabs would consider that taboo.
The only thing that is stopping us is ya, my school, otherwise we would just get married
Oh well, better that way bc when I'm done I'll be done and don't have to be a student/wife/mom alhamduliillah

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Because in Brownie terms the engagement is the official announcement to the community that so and so are hooked, hands off! (haha, had to say it). The families do a 'nishaani' where they exchange gifts and so on to seal the deal, this is part of the 'engagement' (traditionally speaking)
Engagement=mangni, sagai.
The 'wedding' is the actual nikkah, where they really get hooked, and usually move in together immediately after (which isnt always the case). If they dont move in together then the 'rukhsati' (when the larki moves in with him) is held at a later time. But once they're nikkahed, they're allowed to date and stuff.
Oui.
