Re: Female Personal Hygiene
assalamu alaykum
There was this sketch show with a woman breastfeeding her 7+ year old son, when some guy raised his eyebrow at her she responded 'how do you think I keep the weight off' so maybe it's true. But I think I should stop believing the tv, as once I actually believed that in the uk you could walk into a registry office and be married without... like...an appointment or anything... it's not true, this isn't las vegas.
oo also , apparently, breast feeding acts as a natural contraceptive. But def don't take that as fact insha Allah! (you odn't want to be popping out another before the previous stitches have healed.) I have no idea how women in the olden days gave birth without drugs, seriously.

That is not true. Because my mom was telling me about when she had my oldest brother, all the ladies told her that since she was breastfeeding she would not have to 'worry about THAT'. But my mom got pregnant and had my other brother within the year.
As for your second concern, I think women were perhaps a lot more stronger, physically, than the twits that we are today My mom likes to remind me sometimes of how much housework she would do in her younger days without tire. And about how much her mom would do in the course of a single day. And they also could travel long distances without breaking a sweat.

i think i gained around 40 lbs.. and i probably lost 35 of those pounds within the first week post-partum. the remaining 5 stayed until 6 months and now i'm losing even more weight. i'm still nursing my son and he's 10 months. i eat whatever i want and how much i want. i also eat only when hungry and drink to thirst (during pregnancy as well). i'm not sure if breastfeeding helps all moms lose weight quicker, but it sure does work for me.
and i definitely would never recommend anyone to use breastfeeding as a contraceptive. little things like missing a feeding, pacifier use, solids, etc can mark the return of your fertility. it's just way too risky.. unless you want another child real soon. and i can't imagine having a baby and being pregnant at the same time.. that takes a lot of strength.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I thought you can't start trying to lose weight until after you're done with the breastfeeding.

i think that's a myth..you can get the right stuff and the right amount of calories without having to sacrifice the nutritional quality of your breast milk, but it would be extremely hard for someone whos a new mom to pay taht much attention to diet and exercise what with all the exhaustion...and lack of time. but it can be done im sure.

Stitches are quick when surgeons do them. Ob/gyns are not real surgeons, no matter how much they'd like to believe they are.
I've been doing this all day, even through my interview.
I didn't even need to bother with a suit really. I got all dressed up and as soon as I got there, we changed into scrubs and went to the OR. So my interview consisted of chopping people up. It's kind of sad how excited I get about going to the OR.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I just submitted a late article to teh school paper. I had it all written, then I closed it by accident and didnt save it.
My leg hurts and the doctor said i have a strained muscle, but it really hurts.
My dad was talking to his old friend yesterday, tellin him how he's "trying to get me married" I mean, he may very well be trying, but i haven't seen any results

For most women, 25 would be about right. e.g., for an average mother ad baby=> 7lb baby, maybe 5lb for placenta/fluid, 10lb maternal fluid=22lb total necessary gain, anything above that would be extra fat on the mom, and more than about 5lb for that would be excessive.

Only works if the baby is fed at least every ~3 hours (including through the night...). Most moms can't do that. This reminds me of a lecture I once had - poor little Timmy Jones hanging on for dear life at the breast while mom is trying to iron dad's shirt, make Tammy's sandwich, and gulp down her coffee simultaneously...You had to be there.
