i don't like that. what if she only ever appears in front of the guy before marriage with a caked face and then first morning together he turns over and finds himself snuggling upto something he hadn't expected? it's so important to just be yourself.

Yeah, I don't agree with it in the least either. Thank God I don't wear make up on a daily basis. But it boggles me because some people are so okay with doing that, even encouraging others to do so..without worrying about what will happen when/if they do wake up next to the guy

Ah well, to each their own.

One day I'm gunna have to wear make-up every day, cuz one day I'm gonna get a real professional job I hope by that time lip stick, eyeliner and mascara will be good enough.

Assalamu Alaikum,

Exactly, why does it even matter if someone chooses to wear or not wear makeup in that scenario?

Maybe I'm too lazy to wear makeup, but all that putting on and taking off blehhh...

because alot of make-up can alter your appearance, you know, give you a more polished, smoother look, etc and if the guy sees you like that always it'd be quite a shock for him to see you when you're just natural. i have a friend who never steps foot outside without wearing eyeliner, and it's funny, because if, by some slim chance, she isn't wearing any, her eyes look puffy and tired and everyone assumes she's ill.

p.s: we're just wondering if it would be better NOT to wear any, so as to avoid any future problems. i don't think it's an issue. just a thought.

I don't wear make-up on a daily basis anyway.

But apparently, I look different even when I'm wearing glasses instead of contacts or contacts instead of glasses.

I get new glasses! I'm so psyched! He actually reduced my prescription this time, saying the last doctor was overcomensating. My husband helped pick out the frames. I hope I get them this week.

Assalamu Alaikum,

oh...

maybe she'll wake up hours early every day to keep up the farce...maybe she has that sort of time...I dunno, I guess its something I've never thought of. Now if you ask me to explain the fascination people have with ugly coach bags and uggs, maybe then I'd have a better frame of reference. I cringe whenever I see either...

I guess where I live plastic surgery is used way more than plain makeup is, so I've never seen anyone look drastically different because of makeup, the changes they make are a bit more permanent... My neighbour got breasts for her 17th birthday and no, not in the "mother nature" sort of way.

Meh, the make-up issue applies to many situations, not just with prospective husbands.

When interviewing for a new job, most people put on nice clothes, spend extra time on their hair, and for girls, make sure the make-up looks polished/mature/whatever image you're trying to project.

On that note, I have my first residency interview in two days. I tried on my suit today, and I was a little less than thrilled by what I saw. I don't need to ask anyone if my outfit makes my butt look big, I can see for myself that it does.

It could be worse, I guess.

I'm skinny, so normally I wouldn't mind an outfit that, ahem, enhanced my curves. But I don't think bootylicious is one of the criteria that they're looking for.
