All of you who have nose piercings, do you change yours often? If so, where do you buy them?

All the fake ones I've tried (like 2 yrs ago) were worthless..and I think I'm sensitive to fake nose studs? But not really overall sensitive to fake jewelery?
i got mine from the piercing pagoda in the mall, and i havent had any problems with it since it's been in.
although i couldnt get it in at all to begin with. it's one of the "nose bone" kinds with a little ball at the end of a straight post, and i had to file down the ball because it was way too large in diameter.

salams and Eid Mubarak to all.

things are going okay so far.

Someone wanted a pain comparison some time back. I did go through labor (crazy labor) and I can tell you that the pain of labor was not as bad as the pain of my ovarian cyst bursting. They gave me a spinal for the c-section, and it started to wear off immediately after they removed it. Worst pain I've ever felt in my life: the nurse massaging my uterus in the surgical recovery room. I actually screamed.

EDIT: I'm only 5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Fenugreek really does make your sweat smell like maple syrup.

i hope you and baby are doing well now, insha Allah

hiiiiii salaaaaaam

can i make a comment without everyone hating me? hopefully? inshaAllah.

remember before Ramadan when we'd come to FPH and see all the hardships we were each going through in our lives -- from deaths to drama and everything in between. SubhanAllah, it seems (to me, at least) that since Ramadan started, alhumdulillah, we've all been so much happier and, if nothing else, more positive.... striving for the best in ourselves and others, realizing the tests in our lives and reacting to them appropriately, always searching for the silver lining on our dark clouds, etc. etc.

inshaAllah inshaAllah inshaAllah i really hope we can keep that up after Ramadan as well. I'm not saying that we should never complain in FPH or anything like that.... i'm just hoping that inshaAllah if our discontent/difficulties in our lives are truly caused by shaytaan, then inshaAllah we'll be able to withstand the tests as well in his presence than we've been able to in his absence. inshaAllah.

no offense but it seems like Islamica was MORE depressing during ramadan. but yeah I was never really an FPH complainer so to each their own that being said...what saddens me is that now, that ramadan is over I feel the tug of shaytaan again...so inshallah your reminder to stay strong and grateful is a good one.

Alhudillah your doing good.

Your story about labor reminds me of my friends labor where she was in soooo much pain that she actually kicked the doctor....and then the baby accidently kicked her ...on its way out ...which caused even more pain...and she said that the epidural lasted only 10 minutes and wasnt helpful at all...

needless to say Im scared of having kids

don't be not every labor is a horror story, lol. it totally depends on your body and your baby. mine was 7 hours from start to finish, my epidural didn't wear off nor did it make me totally numb (still felt my contrax but to a slightly lesser degree). but i also attribute my good experience to a skilled obstetrician and great anesthesiologist for giving me the right dose.

i think i'm going to get my cycle the week of my wedding (which is in exactly 1 month iA). just checked my calendar and that's when it's due. CRAP

and if not, it's gonna happen the week after. which is the week of my honeymoon.

and I'm starting OrthoTriCyclen Lo and kinda horrified cuz im already such a damn cyberchondriac and i secretly think its really bad for your health to be taking bcps to begin with and like it might mess my cycle up a little bit and freak me out and im worried about whether or not its gonna be effective and also, also...what if i get one of those nasty side effects some ppl get from it? right before my wedding?

If you're starting the pill, just skip the placebos and skip your period.

And taking the pill isn't all that bad. There's goods and bads to it like everything else in life

you can try skipping your period and not taking the placebo but from my experience, at least the 1st three months on BC, your period will come whether you like it or not and whether you skip the placebo or not. you should have start bc months earlier for it to be settled in your system and effective. you go through enough emotions right before and after your wedding that its just not a good time to be testing out bc.

my friend used to work at the hospital, and apparently one day a woman gave birth in the hospital parking lot. her husband had to deliver the baby because it was coming out RIGHT THAT MINUTE. she was in labor for 10 minutes

-nobody kill me, please-

also, you may want to double check with your dr that starting bc pills just a month before your wedding will actually be effective in preventing pregnancy.

Ya, usually you're supposed to start about 3 months before but might as well just go for it now anyway. You may or may not get it but you'll likely get spotting (especially since you're on a low dose pill), which isn't technically your period, nor Islamically (though in the Hanafi madhhab it might be). The color is different and it is much much lighter. Might want to ask a scholar
