My cousin got married recently and hyphenated hers. I found out her husband's last name today when she joined Facebook, haha.

I didn't change it nor do I plan to officially. We've talked about it and I found it best to just call myself Mrs.fiance-husband-man in certain situations when it's best such as in the context of taking my kids to school for example. I don't want people asking my children if their parents are married or if I'm their mother. But like if I'm at my job, there's no need for me to use my husband's last name. Legally I'm not changing it.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I did not change my last name. I told him I worked too hard for a decent google search and I wasn't about to give it all away.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
wouldnt change my name (i dont think). my last name is my dad's first name, and i'm keepin it that way. to be honest, i dont understand the reasoning behind changing one's name. i mean i know its a western tradition, and people kind of assume it, but that's about it. in today's world, even non-muslim couples are increasingly opting for the wife keeping her own name. it just doesn't seem like a big deal anymore- i could be wrong.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
...and this is why girls should be married off at 12. so they can't talk back to the patriarchy (and justify keeping their names).

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
on a related note... i always get completely thrown off when married girls on my facebook friends list go and change their last name... i have no idea who they are until i actually visit the profile.
