Re: Female Personal Hygiene
So today in my marriage and family sociology class the teacher was talking about different types of marriages and he was like " in the islamic world..muslims practice the muta marraige, which is a temporary marriage...which legalizes the concept of having mistresses" I was like
So i raised my hand and was like " um muta marriages are pracitced by a small minority of muslims....in small villages overseas" ( the last part ok, not so much but still i had to make that distinction ) and I tried to emphasize that barely any muslims practice muta marragies and thats its a backward concept......(I dont want these white washed LI kids to get thinking that muslim men marry women, sleep with them and divorce them) so yeah i had to speak up....whats intresting is that I'm not the only hijabi in the class...but Im the only one who raised my hand

To my knowledge, only shia's believe in the concept of temporary marriage. But that's weird that your prof would even feel the need to mention that.. don't really see how that's relevant to anything since it's rarely practiced. He could have just said, in Islam, marriage is basically like a contract.. ah well. Good thing you spoke up though.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
About weird profs... I have a few Religion classes with a man who doesn't even like religion.
I've made so much spiritual progress this Ramadan though. I think I'll give him the Muslim propaganda.

yeah I know, I left the whole shia concept out because i didnt want to confuse them. But i agree ....I think bringing up muta was unnecessary and if you do bring it up....do ALL the reasearch dont just throw it out there without any context.
