The pressure never ends. Finally you will capitulate and get married, and then they will start pressuring you to produce copious amounts of babies. See, grandkids are like potato chips, they can't have just one.

Ew, gross.
My parents aren't putting the pressure on yet, but they're like "In a year or two when you're done school, we'll get you engaged." Scary.
Just. say. no.

But didn't you wanna get married before?
And your parents started in on you when you were 18? Man. I think mine will start next year. Or when I graduate. And I still think that's too soon.
Well... unless they introduce me to the right guy. Then I'd wanna get married.
Some of my older friends (23, 24, 25) are like "Man, our parents have given up on us."

Whether or not you WANT to get married...the parental pressure sucks.

That's true. Pressure sucks regardless.
But if you wanna and your parents want you to too, then vat is the problem?
And do you have any tips for those of us who are coming up against parental pressure (i.e. Sally) or for those of us who know they are going to encounter it fairly soon (i.e. Timbit)?

I don't know a way around it. The issue for me was that my parents rejected many of my rishtas (before I even knew of them) and if one ever made it through and got to me then I would end up rejecting it. Believe me, this was NOT because we were picky. It was just slim pickings. Usually the major issue was around religion and alh, my parents won't budge on that and never got on me for doing the same.
Just be open minded about it so your parents aren't frustrated by you. At least be willing to trust their judgment and give people a shot and if it doesn't work, move on. If you are super resistant to even considering someone...there will be a lot of drama.. and tears.. and drama... and yelling.. and hai Allah... ptv drama.
