I dont like when boys pay for me and alhumdillah Im not in that postion much.....but I also dont like when girls pay for me and I would NEVER give up my personal bank acct....no matter how much my husband persisted.....I would even consider having a secret bank acct.....I have heard so many horror stories after women lose their financhial independence....and i dont even think it comes down to a matter of trust...I think its good sense to have your own money that only you have access to....but thats my personal opinion.

Sumi inshallah Allah will ease her suffering.

We discussed basic ideas beforehand. We didn't discuss specifics though. I think my parents are going to pay for my tuition though. I hope I can work a bit after the bar (I don't think anyone would let me before). I can probably work when I work on my LLM... we'll see.

i took out loans to pay for grad school. that's what we're living on right now for the most part due to employment problems. i'm planning on working to pay off as much of it as possible, but he's not making me "pay him back." maybe its just me, but that kind of thing strikes me as odd. i'd probably be a bit offended.

financial issues is such a huge deal for some people.
i know some people who have rocky marriages because of it

i still have my own bank account, but that doesn't mean we don't pool our resources. i helped him with the down payment on the house. alhumdulillah.

I never thought different standards of living would be a problem, but then I was also living in my idealistic glass tower. It really is something that can possibly cause friction.

I was interested in someone and he went out to dinner with my family and I recently. We ate at a restuarant that my family goes to somewhat regularly. In a show of bravado, he grabbed the check before my father could, but when he looked at it, it was well over a thousand dollars. He felt gutted when he couldn't pay it and talked about it for days afterwards. I don't want someone who feels that they don't quite measure up...ever.

1k? dayum.

but yea, when people are often used to something, they just assume its a norm. when you question someone's norms, it gets..awkward.
