Actually, I've been making a lot of du'as for Islamicans this Ramadan. Especially all of you FPH women. Generally, just that Allah puts barakah in the marriages/households of the married and married with kids ladies. And for the single ones that're looking that Allah helps you all to find pious spouses who'll be everything you want and more!
If anybody has any specific du'a requests, post them here. Or PM me or whatever.
In the meantime, if you could all pray that I get a job. I have a couple of interviews, so um... yeah. Jazakallah khair!

thats so sweet of you. Inshallah I'll keep you guys in mine.
Chotoo - I'm praying for you a lot, inshallah it will be soon.

flutterz
remember a while back my uncle had a bad stroke? it was his mom (my grandmother) that passed away. subhanallah... the stroke messed him up pretty bad and he hasn't really been normal since.. even when he saw her dead body it didn't register in his mind that she was actually dead until they arrived at the cemetery and were burying her. and when it finally hit him, he let out this really wild inhuman scream... they had already closed my grandmothers eyes well before this, but after his scream her eyes opened.. they kept trying to close them but it wouldnt work so they had to bury her with her eyes open.

they opened!? May Allah have mercy on her. This is one of the sadest stories i've heard in awhile. SubhanAllah.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Yay Afra! Fasting is fun!
I've totally screwed up my internal clock and I can't sleep anymore.
I'm running on no sleep here. Well, I feel okay right now, but I need to stay up all day today in order to normalize things again. It's gonna be tough with no caffeine, but I think I can do it! Hopefully. Or maybe I'll nap for a bit when I get sleepy.
I have a job interview in a bit. Tempted to wear jeans.
It's okay if they're dark-wash, right?
EDIT: My parents never want me to get married. Seriously.
Okay, kidding. They do; they're aware of their Islamic responsibilities. But they're very much against the idea of me getting married right now (or anytime in the very near future). Also, they really want me to go to grad school and not to directly go to work after I graduate. I can get a job and get married after grad school, they say (they really don't like the idea of me being married while in school). Sigh. This complicates things.
It's just funny how sometimes they mention marriage and I'll be like "Ew, gross. I'm never getting married."
Other times they mention it and I'll be like "Okay, I'm ready today. Where do I sign?" and then I'm called besharam.
My bro on the other hand is pretty consistent with his "Oh, please! Not this again!"
EDIT2: Their insistence on grad school now is only 'cause one time I told my dad I want to go to grad school. He picked me up from school and I was changing my major and felt like telling him about it. This was maybe two years ago now; I dunno why he still remembers it. Now he's like "You told me you were going to grad school." Me: "Uh, well... I also told Mom I'm going to law school. After that, I told her I'm going to teacher's college. "
Gah. I should've just kept my mouth shut. Or said what my brother says when asked about his plans for the future ("I'm going to win the lottery" ).
EDIT3: I didn't lie to my parents. I do want to go to grad school and at one point, I did want to go to law school. And teacher's college too.
I just don't want to do any of it right now, 'cause I want a break from school. Their stance is that once I join the workforce/get married, I'll never want to go back to school or I won't be able to. So if I want it, I should just suck it up and do it now.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Timbit: my parents are huge on education and they used to say stuff like I can't get married until I finish school or at least at a certain point in my educational career but when the right guy comes along, they can't say no and they know it-- at least that's my experience.

Yeah, I think so too. I really think that once I've finished undergrad, they'll be more willing to consider the idea... whether I'm in grad school or not. 'Cause maybe you can't be married while in school (I don't think that's true though), but you can definitely be engaged.
I totally get where they're coming from and it's not like I've seriously suggested anybody for me to marry to them. We were just talking hypothetically. Right guy hasn't come along yet.
I don't think any father who's aware of his Islamic responsibilities can really say no when his daughter tells him seriously that she's ready to get married. I mean, they can reject a particular suitor, but they won't reject the idea of marriage.

I agree. More than likely they just dont want you to get distracted during undergrad. Lots of people go to grad school after marriage. My sister did her masters about 3 years into marriage, and it was demanding, but alhamdulillah she got through it. The right time to get married is when the right guy comes along Parents understand that too. I also think girls should have a year to just do what they want before marriage--like if you wanna take random cooking classes, you can...if you wanna travel, you can..if you wanna go live in a cave in afghanistan, you can. Because after marriage, there are so many responsibilities..and as great as it must be to do things with your husband, it's also a completely different experience to do them on your own. It also would prepare one for marriage, because you get to experience certain things and open your mind. I feel like I am getting that time now, and I am soo greatful for it. Insha Allah when I have kids, if my daughters are mature enough to handle being on their own(without doing haraam things), I will let them go out and experience the world or just do what they want for a year, even if it means living in a different city every month.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Duas for everyone going through hard times. May Allah swt ease your struggles and for all those who passed away, may they be rewarded with the highest of heavens, ameen.
Today is my first day fasting. i'm scared. i'm fat. i like my food.
Also, I don't know how to cook dinner without tasting as I go. That's the only way it comes out right. I'm not a seasoned cook. I can't season anything
