You're telling me
Anyways...to the mascara comment. AGREED! I have good friends who lather them thick and I feel like their entire eyes are killed because the lashes get so chunky because apparently that's the look they're looking for because they do it all the time.

oh man. im so sorry to hear that. one of my best friends was molested when he was a child, and the effects of it last to this day, even though now he's an adult. certain things trigger flashbacks, and he has trust issues with people around him. the sad things is that before i met him, i obviously knew that being sexually abused is a traumatic experience, but i never understood just how traumatic it can be.
were the family friends within the desi or muslim community?

interesting story:
you guys know the Snuffleupagus on Sesame Street... and how only Big Bird could see him, and none of the adults believed that he really existed? i read somewhere that after a while, they began to worry that the message this would give to kids would be that their parents wouldn't believe them (for example, if someone was touching them inappropriately). so they had an episode where the adults spotted him and realized that Big Bird had been right all along.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
i know i ask a lot of blatantly obvious questions... but i really know nothing about girly salon kind of stuff.
my hair is frizzy. is that simply something i have to live with, or is there something i can do about it? moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, perhaps?
i don't like having a lot of greasy products in my hair, so i'd think twice about any gels or whatever.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
so exhausted! and i've only cleaned the kitchen so far... and it's been three hours..
microwave, stove, oven, floors, walls, every single dish and pot/pan, the fridge and freezer, the trash can (this one was a big nasty mess... i had to stick the inside plastic bit in the shower while i scrubbed the outside and lid. ), and then i discovered this big nasty leak under the sink which will probably take another 2 weeks to fix because the management SUCKS. how can two people create so much trash??? my balcony is FULL right now with trash just from the kitchen..
still have to take care of the bedroom... looks like our closet threw up all over the bedroom. and there's dust EVERYWHERE. and i still have to do my threading and go to my halaqa and do a bajillion pages of reading for school. and i'm still sick.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
The plan today is to buy drawers and closet organizing things. I'm going to try wal mart, ikea is way to far..any where else you ladies can recommend?
Thanks timby and suger . I'll try being more productive with our masjid this ramadhan. I'm pretty familiar with the girls, just never had a chance to get close.
So who's fasting tomorrow?!

I dunno. I'm naturally outgoing and extroverted, I think, 'cause usually when I join something new, people call me asking to hang out. So I've never had to make too much of an effort. But then again, I'm supercool and fun to be with. I'm kidding. I mean, really, the only effort you have to make is to show up for community events, I think.
Also, it helps to look approachable. I dunno how I'm doing that (maybe 'cause I smile a lot? Usually 'cause I'm thinking of something funny in my head). But I find that people always come up to me and start conversations.
I hate when friends move away though.
iSHi: Dunnoooo. We find out tonight.

Yeah, umm... quite religious people too.
I have friends who've gone through that too, and yeah, it's traumatic.

Heh. Awesome.
There was a similar storyline on another children's show I was watching with my baby bro last week. The parents ended up believing in the invisible friend.
