Re: Female Personal Hygiene
seriously i know its being selfish, but i really hate it when people cancel on me and leave me in an awkward position
I was supposed to be having a birthday outing tomorrow and i invited some guys along as well as my female friends. 2 of my female friends have cancelled on me, one has to go to a wedding and the other has to work overtime, but she'll be going out with her work mates after work, and another girl isn't replying to any of my texts so i have no idea if she's gonna be there or not, leaving me alone with 4 guys, one of which, invited his bloody self, until 2 of my friends arrive after work.
I just feel like i don't know what to do because I really don't want to cancel but on the other hand i don't want to be put in such an awkward situation.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
DR, you'll do great. Once you get more used to things it'll all be more natural. The beginning is always a bit tougher, hang in there. And just remember, you're a teacher now!!!
Anyways, I'm so grateful for good people. Coming back to school land after spending two weeks with fiance and then family, I didn't want to be alone again. I don't have a lot of friends at school, never really clicked with most of them, especially since most of their activities involve drinking and other things I don't participate in. And most of them I just... don't like I guess.
Then the Muslims, I dunno. I find it very hard to integrate into the community. Everyone has lived their all their lives so it's like everyone is family friends and I never really felt a "part" of them, ya know? Then being a grad student makes it a bit more difficult because I don't have classes with anyone, hardly see anyone, and well, bleh, you get the idea.
Anyways, so coming back here just made me so ... dare I say, depressed (that and other factors). But I have a good family friend so now I just live there haha. My friend is back for the summer and her family was on hajj trip and they're just super cool and they always tell me to stay over and we have fun. I love them. Helps me stay afloat alhamdulillah.

I want to send you pics of my room. I took three while I was walking out last night. They aren't that great and you can't see all of my stuff, but it gives you a general idea of my room. I plan on taking some better (bigger) pics on Monday, iA.

Thanks Sona . Please tell your sister that I said good luck! I did a semester in 3rd grade. I remember doing a lesson with the book The Lorax. I had the students make persuasive posters . They loved it.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
hey guys, if you could spare a minute to make duaa for my aunt, i'd really appreciate it.
she's got a lot of health problems. today my mom got a call from my aunt's husband saying that he had found her passed out on the ground, with the front door open and the water running. my mom and i visited her this evening. her blood sugar was ridiculously high, and she's barely responsive. she just wants to sleep, and when she talks, it's all mumbles. her face looks gray and unexpressive. we tried to persuade her husband to take her to the ER, but he wants to wait till the morning and see if she's any better. i'm afraid for her.

One of you forgot to say MashaAllah after I said I don't really have acne anymore. 'Cause I had a breakout after that.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
awwwwww afra and timbit
timbit: try washing your face more frequently( if change in diet)..and relax more often..(if related to stress)
as for the meet up on monday iA, i can imagine myself sitting speechless in front of the boy. in the past, the most i had to deal with was the family. it has never been a direct rishta the most a hint or two from aunties/uncles about myself and parents etc..even, then my parents have handled the matter al hamdoulilah quiet well (by agreeing to postpond the idea of marriage all together until i finish grad school and stuff.. now its sooooo different, they dont wanna buge in)
i still can't digest the idea of meeting a strange boy for the first time esp in presence of all the elders. meeting him at work/uni/family gathering etc is quiet different where you get to see him in a non-biased way..and now, how am i suppose to judge him based on his facial expressions and listening skills? and its quiet obivious that he's gonna be at his best behavior EVER. :loser: the whole investigation/stalking him is even harder when they're from states (out of country). and most parents satisfied if the families get along pretty well and unfortunately they expect the same from their offspring or better. "they're a great family" "we've known them for generations" "we can't find someone better and with good lineage" blah blah...
my sincere sympathy to all those who went through this ordeal i really pray that noone has to ever go through this.
