Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Caramel
Dramarani: Tazorac is for real acne. alhamdulillah I don't have full-blown real acne so it dried out and made my face burn when I put it all over, even for one night, so I started using it as a spot treatment. It would dry out the pimple when I used it 2-3 nights in a row and after that it would shrink down, dry out and go away. A whole tube lasted forever...when it expired and I threw it away it was still about half full. It was nice, I should invest in some more
How much is it without insurance? Even with insurance I had to pay $40

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
Jelly, I called a few a places and depending on whether its the cream or the gel and the obvious size of the tube, it can run between $140 and $170.

wow...that is expensive. maybe a doctor friend/relative can hook you up, by supplying a sample.

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
I don't have a dermatologist right now. I haven't had insurance in over a year. The dermatologist that I did have previously, this really old sweet grandpa-ish type of guy lol, used to give me free samples all of the time. I used to wear my university logo sweatshirt to all of my visits. I'd leave the office with tons of hand creams, face creams, and acne treatment samples etc. Alhumdulillah, with my job, I'm entitled to a full benefits package. I applied and am hoping my benefits start in September iA, iA.

Well, I used to work at the clinic. If I *really* want to, I can ask my ex-coworkers to track down some samples. Oh well. I'd really prefer NOT to ask any of my dad's friends for acne treatments. 1. Most of the docs he knows are men. I'd feel really awkward discussing acne treatments with uncles. 2. The doctor aunties my dad knows... yeah... I just don't want to go there with them...

...i don't get it. it's just acne. not like you'd be discussing menstrual cycles or child birthing preferences?

Sometimes the doctor-patient privilege thing gets thrown straight out the door. Its happened to a couple of people that I know and I'd rather avoid that if I can .

i dunno... the auntie/uncle circle talks too much. i'd be uncomfortable asking an uncle about my dahne. especially in afifas area. afifa, remember when aunties would report to each other when they saw you at the gym?

Re: Female Personal Hygiene
TAZORAC IS THE MAGIC FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
acutally, it comes in two forms..gel and cream
the gel REALLLLLLYYYYY dries out your face and reddens it...it didnt suit me at all..
the cream is actually pretty good. although, your face will get extra oily during the day if you have the cream applied on at night. i would just use those clean and clear skin blotting paper things a few times a day all over my face and that would take care of it.
but really its tootally worth the magic
i need more magicians in my life who make things disappear like that...sigh.

Seriously! I've been told three times by my old doctors to try BC for acne. I've always said no. I'm scared of BC. Anyways, I know if I ever even hinted at an interest in it with the desi aunty docs, they'd spread rumors about me wanting it for pregnancy prevention reasons and not acne control purposes. I'd just like to avoid alllllllll of that...
