I just got a french vanilla coffee drink from the local gas station..its bloody great!

I am loving on some columbian beans recently..mmmmm

Starbucks coffee is only good if you add all that sweet stuff to it. like mocha, sugar, cream...by then its a hot chocolate and not really coffee.

How does one make cappuchino at home with no equipment whatsoever? Bar kettle, maybe microwave. Spoon and cup.

Nah you need the equipment to steam the milk and make it right...i'd fore-go the milk and drink the expresso on its own...

starbucks is delicious for frappucinos and espressos and specialty coffees. when i just want regular coffee (all the time!!), its either tim hortons or williams. large double double. yum

if you don't have an espresso machine at home, a really great way to froth milk is with a french press. its really cool, because you can even brew your coffee in it (not for the faint of heart, its really strong stuff), rinse it well, and then add heated up milk to it. then press up and down on the plunger thing, heat up milk again if needed, and you're left with such intense, dense froth. i'm not comparing it to steamed, frothed milk that a good epresso machine can do with a wand, but it's still better than nothing

but yes, i love coffee. back in university, i would opt for black coffee and eventually developed a taste for it (def an acquired taste). but now i try to limit my morning coffee intake to 2-3 times a week and i usually go all out and have steamed/frothed milk, different flavored syrups, and i always grind the beans in the morning, and only a small amount. freshly ground beans make all the difference sometimes if my husband needs a caffeine jolt in the morning, i'll make some a strong french pressed coffee with just sugar and have a few sips. but it's way to strong for someone used to so much frills with coffee.

btw the more i have local coffee shop lattes and the more i learn to practice at home, the worse starbucks lattes taste to me. you call that foam!? it deflates in like 5 minutes, what's the point of ordering a latte then?

well... it's like this. You go to the International Store and buy some ground coffee (buy it from them becuae it's guaranteed to be super strong, bitter, and very finely ground) Then, you boil some watter in a pot on the stove, and add the coffee grounds (little less than a Tbsp per 8oz cup of coffee) you boil it for about 5 minutes, and then you strain the coffee into your cup, leaving enough room for chocolate syrup etc.

Then, to the cup you add some hersheys chocolate syrup (for a mocha) or some of that syrup they sell in the soda isle for alcoholic bevrages (also sold at Starbucks, but my grocery store sells it) and add some milk from the fridge.

That would be a really crappy quality sort of latte/mocha for you. But hey, with all the syrup and chocolate in it, you won't taste the coffee anyway.

Hmmm... I never knew you couldn't make coffee without a coffee maker. I wonder how people in the old days managed...
