I think it's allergies . I can't explain the wheezy painful breathing (esp at night) but I'm getting all this lovely oozy clear stuff from my eyes and nose...definitely allergy symptoms.

I know this may sound strange, but eat some horseradish, it works miracles for my allergies.

its better to space them out at least 2 hours apart if possible. the absorption of both are inhibited if taken together.
maybe choose one to take with each meal? thatll be a good way to space them out while not forgetting about them.

I've been doing that now, but what'm I gonna do in Ramadan?
Okay, tentative pill-taking schedule...
Suhoor:
Calcium 1 + Vitamin D
Iftaar:
Calcium 2
2 hours later:
Iron
Another 2 hours later:
Antibiotic
But then I'm gonna have to take my allergy medication sometimes too.
Hahaha, I'm gonna have to get up from bed just to take a pill. How ridiculous. Okay, I've been doing that anyway, but... still. It's annoying 'cause you have to brush your teeth again and stuff. You all suck.
But at least I don't have to take the antibiotic on an empty stomach. Okay, that makes me feel better. But you all still suck.

your allergy medication shouldnt interfere with the absorption of any of the other things you take, so you can combine it with any of the others.
and in my opinion, you dont need to be getting up at night to take your meds/vitamins. its not harmful to take the iron and calcium together, you just dont have maximum absorption. it should be avoided if you can, but dont make life hard on yourself. especially with the calcium cuz its more of a long term preventative thing, not for an acute problem.
maybe during ramadan you can take the calcium pills together or just do one of those per day (one of them should be enough anyway for someone your age who includes dairy in their diet). but if you think you can stick to the idea that you posted....more power to you! im way too forgetful and lazy to do it that way myself haha

Re: The "Ask a Doctor" Thread
Fatima, you rock my world. Thank you!
You're right; I can ease up a little on the calcium during Ramadan. The iron's way more important. (I just wanna be able to donate blood... )
Honestly, I'm usually not very good at taking calcium anyway (or iron supplements for that matter ). I just remember while sitting in class or something. And that's usually what I tell myself too to rationalize the laziness and forgetfulness...that it's okay for me to be lax about the calcium 'cause it's just preventative.

Re: The "Ask a Doctor" Thread
How common are PACs (premature atrial contractions), especially in young people? Is there anything to worry about if one has them? What should be done to curb discomfort and anxiety?

Re: The "Ask a Doctor" Thread
Doctor is making me take even more iron, so that kind of complicates things. Too bad 'cause I had developed a nice little Ramadan pill-taking schedule. It could take a year for my iron levels to become normal.
I went with my friend to her allergy testing appointment and I think her specialist is way better than mine. He didn't hurt her as much anyway, and he was able to find results and offer good, practical advice. I'm allergic to dust mites, I think.
And I had another blood test. I'm beginning to become friends with some people in the labs.
Also, what is an ecocardiogram and what do they do to you in a stress test? Just wondering!
And does Biotin help for brittle nails? Thanks!

What makes reflexes work anyway? Like when they hit you with those little rubber hammers.
And this dude did it to my forearm, just below my elbow - and nothing happened. Does that mean something in my arm doesn't work?? (he didn't seem too concerned or anything, just curious)

Re: The "Ask a Doctor" Thread
My chronic sinusitis is flaring up yet again. I just finished a 2-week course of steroids to calm the inflammation in my sinuses and before that I had taken a 10-day course of antibiotics (my 5th.. or 6th? ...course of antiobiotics in the last year). Both the antibiotics and steroids helped while I was taking them but as soon as I'm done with the meds the pressure in my head, the headaches, sore throat and cough etc return.
I have an appointment with an allergist over thanksgiving break but that's not until mid-November. I've started using my netipot to flush it out as much as I can and using ibuprofen modestly to control the headache. Any other suggestions? My head feels like it's going to explode and crying is no option, it just makes my head more stuffed up .
If I let this go for too long it predictably will get worse: aches, pains, increasing headaches, extreme pressure in my face, and high fever (it's gotten to 103 before )
