I have had a loooooot of experience with dentists. Yeah, I fit the British stereotype of messed-up teeth, so sue me. My current dentist is awesome. I love him, in a platonic adoration kind of way of course. But I've had some nightmare scenarios from some dentists. Yikes!

I'm sure displaced is a lovely dentist.

I think the best thing a dentist can do is really reassure and be sympathetic to patients. Even if they're acting like babies and spazzing out, the worst thing a dentist can do is dismiss it. Unfortunately there are some cowboy-job dentists out there who can literally traumatise patients.

Hmm I see, sounds like what I need, basically I think I have some gum disease in the back and i think it needs to be scraped out under the gumline...

My brother was telling me about his recent nightmare trip to the dentist. And he has great teeth masha Allah but it was some scary stuff. Here, private dentists seem like they create problems that they later need to 'fix' most of the time. Kinda like a bad builder/plumber.

Alhamdulillah, my teeth don't fit the typical British teeth description so I'm okay most of the time.

people usually show signs of periodontal disease in their 30s and interproximal caries hit most people in their mid-20s so I hope you floss and don't just rely on your teeth being near perfect.

bleeding is a sign of gingivitis. if your brushing and flossing improve, you won't bleed much if at all. as is, avoiding flossing only makes the condition worse.

if the contacts between your teeth are too tight and the floss snaps between your teeth into your gums, try dental tape (crest glide) instead of floss.
