Re: The Art of Baking
I need help with my bread-baking
I love making bread, and most of the time the end result is edible, but for some reason my bread crust never turns out crispy..like homebaked bread normally does
What to do?

If you want a crispy crust spritz it with water during the middle of the bake time.
When I make Italian bread I do a water bath so the crust is harder.
For a soft flaky crust I put a bit of olive oil on top before baking.
I hope that helps

Waliykum as'salam.
Quote:
INGREDIENTS
* 1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
* 1 (16 ounce) container prepared chocolate frosting
* 1 (3 ounce) bar chocolate flavored confectioners coating
DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using any of the recommended pan sizes. When cake is done, crumble while warm into a large bowl, and stir in the frosting until well blended.
2. Melt chocolate coating in a glass bowl in the microwave, or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
3. Use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate cake mixture. Dip the balls in chocolate using a toothpick or fork to hold them. Place on waxed paper to set.

youd probably not have to use as much frosting since its more dense to begin with. it sounds good...but it also sounds like it would be a looot sweeter than cake.

do you think it'd work if i used raspberry preserves or something other than frosting? brownies and frosting sounds way too sweet.
