Seriously, there should be a thread for only Islamica members who get approved. Threads that can go there should be the "post your pictures thread" because I just realized that complete strangers visiting the site knows what we look like and stuff like that.

On another Muslim forum I go to, they have a "Muslims only" and "Men only" and "Women only" threads and stuff, where more private stuff can be focused there.

If we do the "Mens Only" and "Women only" threads, we can move the Mens Personal Hygein and Women threads to their appropriate sections so men can't go to the women threads and vice versa.


Anyone else agree?

If you post your picture as an attachment instead of imbedding it into the message text (via the [img] fxn) non-member cannot see it. You have to be logged in to see attachments.

This has been discussed so many times before.

The whole Men Only and Women Only threads/sections are a joke. Someone can easily create a username, an alter-ego if you wish, and post in it or read it. If you feel that a topic is something that is truly private, then don't participate in the conversation, as simple as that. If you don't like that the opposite gender is participating in your little Men Only thread, it's called scrolling over their posts.

Not to mention, it takes a hot minute to become a 'member'- so what would be stopping someone from just creating a username to stalk the forum, particularly the photo album ones? Novel idea- don't put your picture online if you don't want the world to see it.

And how would one even go about approving a member? Will they give out member assessment tests?

The private forums will work only if we have 3rd-party / referral verification implemented, whereby one forum member personally knows another member requesting access, and can verify his or her identity and gender. But that's really cumbersome and would exclude several Islamicans who don't know any other Islamicans in real life.

As for your pics ... Its the internet. You can't remain completely anonymous. I've had my pic, my address, my phone number, my real name, up on the net for a long time. I've had stalker vigilantes call my house and I told them to STFU and bring it. Guess what? They never came. Granted, you probably don't piss off even 10% of the amount of people I do.

If you want to put your pics up on Islamica, a better option would be to put up the link to your Facebook pics. That way all of your Facebook friends can click and view, and anyone who isn't on your list cannot, unless they send you a message requesting access.

how about if you care about people seeing your picutres you dont post them on display. I mean people really dont have to see you if you dont want them to, if you want a select few then, well is it going to break or make you if your select few can't see pics of you because you dont want others to see?


and if you want gender threads, I can see where you are going, but some people say their the one gender when they are the opposite, and if its something that really concerns you that you want only one gender to know then maybe you should speak to someone in private about it. For this is a public forum that is co-ed.
