Default "Wahhabi" vs "Rafidhi" - Double Standard?

Question - why is it OK to use the pejorative term "Wahhabi" on these boards for Salafis - or for that matter, non-Salafi Sunnis who take their religion seriously - but using the term "Rafidhi" is a bannable offense?

See:

Is this really fair?

Beats me must be a derogatory term for a certain sect?

i.e., it's derisively used to refer to Shias (just to clarify)

zaidi shi'ahs aren't considered as rafidhi's though. If you meant shia as in majority of shia (ithna asheriyya) then yeah.

Both members were banned. The terms are not banned but they were used to constantly flame hatred. In regards to sunni/shi'a debates, our policy is to be as firm as possible to ensure this board is open to all sects.

I thought Rafidhi meant someone who rejected the Imamah of Zayd son Zayn ul Abideen. Rafidhi refers to both Ismaili and Twelver Shia. Historically the word is not a slur as far as I know.

I know a few. They are accepted more-so then the rafidhi's, but their dislike for amir mu'awiyah (ra) is what turns most ahlus sunnah away. The zaidi's ( & some ismaili's) i know, aren't nearly as vocal in their expression of hatred of the companions (ra) as the ithna asheriyya though. They focus more on telling the stories of their Imams (ra), rather than bad mouthing the dead and polemics. I actually learned alot about the ahlul bayt imams (ra) from them.

yeah you are correct.
The ones who accept Imamah of Zaid bin ali bin Hussayn (ra), normally do not have a problem with the shaykhayn (ra) and accept them as legitimate caliphs. They have some problems with the rule of sayyidna uthman (ra), but accept him as well.

From what I know that is the correct reason, they went to zayd and offered him bayah if he was to curse the khulafah, he refused so they rejected him (hence rawafidh). The early twelvers were even proud of the term rafhidi.
